Hello, NEW PEOPLE!

Fluff.....it's what's for breakfast. Nothing wrong with complimenting a person's post, I live for that myself.

Got hit with another pet peeve just today, newbie sending a friend request. I'm flattered someone wants to be my friend, but I would like to know a little about you before we start with the sleepovers.
 
I was that guy. I got on my first day and was asking for a co-packer. I immediately PMed salsalady and bugged her. I would like to think that I have since made up for it. If not pm me and tell me. I have no problem with criticism and proper THP etiquette.

i had this problem with new guy on here but im not going to mud sling whats done is done

Have to admit that is why I update my growlog. Lord knows I can maintain it right here on my computer for personal mental masturbation, but the group helping makes it feel sooooo much better.

Yeah, I begged for seeds once, then I saw all the sase/sabe offers and saw it was unnecessary. ;) Now this fall, I'll be offering free seeds via sase/sabe as was done for me.
 
I guess it all depends where you ask when you're looking for stuff. There's a post now in the Pepper Growing forum from a guy who joined yesterday looking for seeds. Lots of folks stepping up to help. Got a good chuckle out of it.
 
Unfortunately the generousity is taken advantage of a lot. I remember when Pepp3rfreak turned me on to this forum he told me the etiquette and I was insulted he felt he needed to tell me....now I see why he did tell me......Would you go up to a stranger in a store you have never been in and ask them for a dollar? That is how I look at it.

i spent most of my time at the very begining( i am still super new) looking over the grow threads as that is why i initially came here was to get tips on growing, then i discovered the seeds/fresh pods and the rest is history! this is a great community with good members as long as you respect everyone and dont take advantage i have been rewarded for that! :) thanks to all the older members for the help and the pod porn to look at!

I didn't have a problem with HabaneroHeat PMing me on his first day. He had some legitimate questions about co-packers etc here in our state. I had some great help when I started my business and paying it forwards is a no-brainer for me.

Asking for information is one thing. Asking for seeds from a person who sells seeds as a business is wacky. AjiJoe sells seeds and plants. While he may choose to sometimes give seeds away, I would never presume to ask for free seeds from him. Would you go into a restaurant and ask for free food?

Seriously, I know I'm probably preaching to the choir, but people can buy seeds from established seed businesses for $2. I know there are probably some folks who truly can't afford $2 for a packet of seeds, but the rest of the 99% of the population can afford it.


Friend requests-
What do you do when you receive a friend request from someone who you don't have any connection to? If a person is from the northwest (where I live) or they are a food processor, or if I can find some other connection, even if I haven't had any personal interaction with them I'll usually approve the request. But what if it's out of the blue and you have no clue who they are or why they're trying to friend you?
 
SL, it's awkward. I had a friend request again, just this morning! I felt kind of bad when I clicked "deny". But I kind of look at it as what it is... a "friend" request.
The guy only had 7 posts to his name, and I know it's not about the post number, but how well can I know you with only 7 posts? I don't meet people at the grocery store, and consider them friends right off the bat.
know what I mean? it's not that big of a deal, I mean, one thing I learned since starting this thread, is that when you have a casual thought, then type it out, it seems to become more of a deal than it really is... a casual thought.

To the guy I denied; don't take it personal, kick back and stay a while, we might just become friends! :cheers: and :welcome: !!!
 
It's just peppers folks. Seems pretty easy to weed out mooching lurkers, never really agonized over it. If I were new here, I'd be like hmmmm.... this is hard....

Not tryin' to troll, but ever step back and wonder if it ain't worth getting so uptight over?
 
Sometimes I think I'm just a big softy! I had two people in the last two days send me friend requests. One had 18 posts and the other 9. I approved them anyway, even without conversing with them once. I figured what could it hurt. I have the power to delete/block any friend if I want anyway. :lol:
 
That's it, back to being a prick! I just defriended one of those cause I saw he's already asking for free superhots and even putting down his address already when no one even responded yet. He aslo has 46 friends already. Like those guys on facebook with 4,000 friends. Come on guy! :shame:

There was one spammer friend requesting that is banned. There is another member now also friend request spamming that has been warned.

Going through the entire member list. What is the point?
