I've been burned by those spring, harbringing, robins before. ;)
All the poetry and robins in the world won't bring spring one day quicker.
Maybe I'm just overcome by mid-winter curmudgery :D.

Tomorrow is mid-winter day.
We can tear the page of January out of book for this year.
We have survived the brute force of winter, now it starts to resort to psychological warfare as well.
And in the southern mountains, we'll have skirmishes on into April if not a few days of May too.

I think everybody's grow room will be busting at the seams within 6 weeks.
If not a lot sooner.

That is a little bit too much like work.  I am really hoping I don't have to get to that point.
Well I think at some point you will ;)

I feel the sun and wind is good for them, it's a hardening process. I only haul them out if they can do 3 days or so outside. Looks like they come back in this evening.

Oh mine hit the sooner mark already!

February is here, and Mother Nature is dumping snow on me again.  Good news is we're 28 days from March and that's when the ice comes off the lake and the boat hits the water.  Everything I start indoors that hasn't been started will be started next month.  Should be the last month of the wood stove.  Perhaps a little into March, but depends on the cold.  If I can't run the wood stove constantly, I will switch to furnace.  Then April will be here and some garden work will begin.  And I have a lot of work to do.  Raised beds to create, A border garden to create.  Another tall fence to put in the front garden so I can rotate my pickles (pickling cukes).  The first tall fence I put in will have snow peas, and some climbing beans on it this season.  Tulips could be up before all the snow is gone.  Daffodils as well.  And turkey season starts in April.  It will be some really busy times, but some of the best times of the year.

Then once all is in the garden, it is time to reap what we sow.

Okay, back to the present.
.
My bird picture made it onto Chicago news this morning, spring has sprung.  Kind of cool.  And yes, I think we all will be running out of room, but oh the joy of seeing all them plants reach for the lights and thicken their stems.

Trying a new watering style this morning.  I am taking the 18 pot tray with the holes in the bottom into a water tight tray and bottom watering the peppers.  Bottom watering should limit damping off issue that I think mainly happens with top watering.

Peter is a really fast growing pepper.  It is putting on buds already.  I would have to check my notes, but I believe this pepper was planted mid to late December.  I am thinking next year no peppers get planted until February.  But the itch will hit to get dirt under the nails and the worry about slow germination will hit again too lol.

Looks like it will be picture day today.

Peters look good.

Stay warm. More snow in the forecast. <sigh> They say Tuesday around here, so you'll probably get it on Monday.

Calling Tuesday here.  Could be snow/rain/ice or a mix.

Thought I'd start off with some food.

Hi Jeff,

Beautiful plants! Leaf issue sucks...I am having quite similar with my plants. Do you know what could cause it? Too much water? Lack of calcium?

My couple of Jalas last year didn't do much. I've been searching the Burpee racks for Billy Bikers this year with no luck thus far.
The grocers around here only carry the mildest of mild Jala's
Though I'm not a big fan of bacon, all those looked pretty good, Jeff. The chessy cornbread filling was eye catching, and mouth watering.
Thanks.

Caught back up with the mouth watering food posts, and tease of spring. Can't come soon enough. I just want to grow grow grow! You've definitely got your hands full! Everyone is looking good! I wouldn't worry too much about the leaf curl on those little ones. As long as you have ruled out mites and the like. I have a group of Trinidad Perfumes/7Pots that did that until I got them into the sun outside and they grew out of it.

Im not sure how productive they are but I have Giant Jalapeno seeds saved from some of Judy's peppers if you want me to send you some PM me. They would make great stuffing peppers.

Mine didn't do well last year either. Goliath are pretty warm and so are Bikers.  I believe Bikers are hotter but I think the Goliath are larger.

I think Goliath are hybrids and you can't save the seeds from them and have them grow true.
