All it is is a vacuum created by a larger volume flowing by a smaller volume. No moving parts except the three shut off valves. Still playing with the setup but this one is too small for my setup but it sucks about a gallon down in less then 10 minutes but i have to keep the main valve mostly open or not enough flow to all the heads. If you want to set this up go buy a bigger one and ill trade you with difference in cost!

If thats what a needle valve is then yup thats what it is!

I'm not sure it would work with my setup. when the system is on everything is under pressure and there really isn't enough flow to cause a vacuum. If I hooked that up to mine I would picture it just watering the jug lol. Unless I'm not thinking correctly about it, which is entirely possible.

Its on drip system that has either a 15 or 25 psi regulator on it. Problem is i just added 70 1gph emitters to it and the little devise is designed for like 10 gph or greater to work and its just too small. The next size up would be much better. Psi would be an issue if you dont have enough flow going by it. But if you are running drip thats probably not going to be an issue

Where are u in the county btw?

Well I am running 1/2 main line with 1/4 drip lines with a pressure regulator of 30 psi. Drippers are 0.5 gal per hour Which is to why I don't think there is much real flow going by, well enough to cause a vacuum but I could be wrong.

I'm in Vista.

Nice looking beds, Rich. You are going to have a nice jungle in your neighbor's
front yard. Looks that drip system is gonna work great!

im in your neck, pm me. it will work as its simple physics man.

getting there! thanks!

Wow! Impressive :).
thanks, getting the hang of growing again!

oh man so i switched to a 5gal bucket for my fert injector and man was my guess way off. I thought it would last almost three weeks, ya blew through it in about an hour. still got some playing to do but I think a 55 gal drum is in the play with the fert diluted a bit. works way bitchin like a camarro just have a little bit of tweekin to do to get it to the ratio I want.

Great work so far on the fertigation! I occasionally hook a hose end mg feeder into my system filled with 1/2 figs ferts 1/2 water...works well, but I've been hand feeding worm/compost tea with a little fish ferts mixed in by hand lately. Is that a bhut in your sexy pic?

I've been figuring out how to make a fertigation system... Your idea is simpler and more elegant that what I had envisioned... Going to give it a shot. I have a variable speed 10gph pump I may use to pump the fert into the irrigation system at a controlled rate... But other than that I think I'm going to try to duplicate this pretty closely.

Home Depot here I come haha.

oh man no need for a pump. the injector was bought at an irrigation store near me for about $30 and I have been using dr earth 3-3-3 liquid which is thick as hell and it will suck it up, but what I tried last time was 1gal of dr earth to 4 gal water. The problem is its too small to shut off the bypass and get enough water to my 70 1gal emitters so as it is I have to have the bypass mostly on. ideally in the future I will get a larger one and be able to automate it more with the valves either on or off rather than 2 all on and one mostly on. Ill fins out the name of it when i go in there tomorrow but total cost with all the valves and so forth was around $80 or so... Dont go to home depot though, find an actual irrigation/agriculture store near you. I think this is the brand I have http://www.mazzei.net/injectors

Yup thats one of 5 established which is now bringing me to ask a question...how to transplant. each plant is now about 3' tall and 3' diam. unfortunately I planted them way too close to each other and the honeysuckle above them has only about a 3' space under it and each plant is about 3' apart from each other meaning....they are now competing.

I saw fitting the last time I was at homedepot that has a narrow diameter tube coming off the side of a coupling at a 45 degree angle... I am thinking that would probably suffice for the injector... Then mix up some fert in a 5g bucket, and be good to go. The pump, which I have from my aquarium days, would force the fertilizer to be dispersed over a 30 minute time period, which I'm thinking is slower than it would be fed out without the pump. I have also been thinking about doing something similar with a rain barrel, so its mixing collected rain water in with the tap water... But we shall see...

I have nothing against home depot or lowes but my experience over the years is the stuff they sell is over priced residential carp fish. If it works, it works though but I can tell you there is a difference in quality between commercial/ag and residential and in most cases an irrigation/ag supply store is actually selling it for less...thats all. if you found something at hd, go for it...its not like there are any moving parts or seals to fail lol!

the one thing in my particular case i would have done different is reverse the bypass and injector so that more friction is going to the bypass. your milage may vary though

I have peppers on my seedlings! Took a pic but it came out too dark. I think its a scotch bonnet that has the most so far!

Ok guess it didnt come out too dark. I think its a scotch bonnet but will look at my map later.

yup its a scotch bonnet in the pic. these peppers are rocking.

Great progress, Rich! Hope you can get your fertilizing
routing under control. That will make your job easier!

Thanks paul.
working 7 days this week is really killing my drinking err gardening time. I specified only a half day tomorrow which is usually my sunday so i can do my gardening. The fert injector is working as specified about 4gal an hour i was trying to get it to be closer to 2 an hr. Anywho it works great just a matter of dilluting the fert enough and larger container so i dont need to fill it every week.. im thinking of getting a little solar powered water pump to keep the fert mixed everyday. As i glance at the plants early in the morning a bit of new growth and flowers and peppers on many of them. Havent lost any yet so good news. Silly 7/14s killing me lol
