Meatfreak 2014 Glog

So I've started my grow a couple of weeks ago, 28th of January. I use the same setup as previous seasons, 2x 125watt CFL 6400K lights, black/white foil. First round were the Chinense, about 22 different varieties, mostly superhots and hots. Almost everything germinated within a week and with a total germ rate of 92% I was pretty pleased. I potted them up last week and they quickly showed new growth again. Well enough talk, this is what the plants looked like yesterday, 10 days after transplant and almost 4 weeks from start date.

This one is a beast, very rapid growth, big leaves and already branching out? Georgia Black (Jason/GA Growhead)

This season I'm growing out a couple of crosses from friends like Gary/Nagabrain Chocolate F-2, Mike/Elysium Oxide Bonnet and Jamie/Green Hornet F-2. Also some phenotypes that showed up at John's garden, 7 Pot Peach F-2 and 7 Pot Caramel F-2. Of course I'm also growing my own discovery from last season, Pimenta Lisa F-2. Got 2 seedlings going, one has the desired traits so far and the other one is green as grass. Looking forward to growing both out!

Last weekend I started up the second round, mostly Annuum and some Chinense I got in trades these last few weeks. Today the the first ones sprouted after merely 3 days and even Chinense! Well that's it for now, thanks for keeping up so far :D

And I saved the best for last, Scotch Bonnet Yellow x 7-Pot BS Yellow F-2 from the outstanding and famous PIC1 (Greg) :) Plant #1 spits out pods that look like this, will definitely need to isolate some flowers to keep this strain pure. Bonnet shape with the texture of the Brain Strain, awesome!!

Wow, this is great!  I wonder how it will taste...

Nice update Stefan!  Interesting learning about the Georgia Black.

Glad to hear the EOB is loading up for you. The color looks correct from here.  That puckered twist shape I see occasionally but probably won't represent the overall bulk form.

That cool cross from Greg looks like it could replace rough grit sandpaper if needed!

Good luck if your following the World Cup today!

That Scotch Bonnet Yellow x 7-Pot BS Yellow is one gnarly looking pod Stefan!

Keep up the good work!

I'm loving what I see here!
So far it's my absolute favorite, Scott. It's about time things are exploding over here ;)

Excellent pictures Stefan! I love your tomato selection. My first pull from the granaderos I grew this year hasn't impressed me, but I think I need to let them get riper. Moreover I selected them for disease resistance... it's humid down here and I've had lots of sick tomatoes in the past. You got a favorite sauce/salsa mater? I especially like the somewhat pointed varieties like the Katey and Bychok.

Peppers look amazing too of course.
Thanks, Adam. Like you I also have problems with disease because of the humidity. First season I had to destroy my 40 plants, then I decided to never grow an mater outside again. Besides the Datterini I'm not growing the same ones like last season so I don't have experience with these varieties. Last season the Costoluto Fiorentino, Dix Doigts de Naples and Striped Roman were excellent for sauce/salsa. I didn't know the Bychok makes a tasty sauce also, I just have it for salads and such. Like peppers there are so many tomato varieties to choose from, very hard :)

I hope it does taste the same as last season, very very fruity. The best of both parents, but I was surprised it wasn't as hot as an Bonnet or Brain Strain. Maybe this one will be.

Once the pods are bigger and the plant more loaded up I will take some pictures again, Mike :) Greg did a great job with that cross. Thanks for the good luck wishes, it was a difficult game for us because of the heat and humidity.

That doesn't look like just evil, it's the grandfather of the devil!
 I wonder how big it will get. Last year the pods were big. You can see the shape is similar but these had a less gnarly texture :D

Man that is one awesome looking pod I can't get it out of my head if that taste as good as it looks.  Really hard to improve on two already great tasting peppers but put them both together and WOW! All your plants are so nicely manicured and clean of any pests I just love how the European gardeners do thing across the pond.  Glad to meet the new crop of really great growers here.

Thanks, Cappy, appreciate the kind words! Your absolutely right about the bonnet x brain cross both have an outstanding flavor but the cross is even better! Can't wait to taste this year's crop to see if it's just as good or even better? :) Yeah I like to keep things clean and organised. For now it's possible but the plants are quickly getting bigger and wider so it's harder to get between the rows ;)

First small harvest of the season, these pods were formed when the plants were still inside. Madame Jeanette and Devil's Tongue Chocolate.

Elysium Oxide Bonnet F-4 I checked tonight, Mike and yeah those are pale green :) This plant really has a sea of flowers.

Damn Stefan!  Everything is absolutely rocking over there!  Love that SB X BS!  I'm really far behind on everyone's glog.  Got to get caught up soon my friend.  Finally got some tomatoes for your little girl I see.  Datterini's been going crazy over here.  My little girl has been saying "More, more?"  every time I pick a couple off the plant for her.  She's loving it as much as I am!

Almost been a week and things have been growing.

Pimenta Lisa F-2 green pheno is loading up. Pods feel heavier the the dark pheno but are smaller, shorter and less bumpy. Curious to what color they will ripen.

Jason, just like you I have some variation in my Trinidad Scorpion CARDI yellow plants. 2 are showing true to form pods and the other 2 make pods like this. More gnarly surface and the shape isn't true.

Jwala (thanks to PeriPeri) The pods get an dull green color after a while. Is this normal for the variety?

That's 10!

The Jwalas look right to me Stefan. Your Thais are bushier than mine, so good on ya! All are looking fine. Need a bump?

Thanks, Rick and for the bump. Just got a couple more, my battery died when I was taking pics. The Thai Orange finally started to produce pods after putting out a lot of growth first. From now on I'm not gonna strip the side branching anymore. Plants are almost 3 feet tall.

What's the deal with this Jalapeño Felicity, very big pods and still growing

Whoa... those are some jumbo Jal pods! Good deal that you're getting ripe tomatoes too... are you making any salsa with them?
Not with these, the ones that are starting to ripe are more for the use in salads and just to eat like that. The varieties for salsa/sauce are a bit behind on the rest because of me. I slacked at maintaining them and the suckers took their chance. They are catching up however ;) I have to start topping the plants of since they've reached the top of the tunnel. Otherwise it's dangerous and big chance I will get diseases. From now on I'm gonna leave the bottom suckers on the plants in the hope it will produce some extra tomatoes since it's still early in season.

Variation on both sides of the pond I see!
Lisa's are looking cool. I'm just getting flowers on mine. I never planted my one green plant. It's still in a 3.5 x 5 inch pot. It looked sad at me today, wanting bigger shoes. :(
