Melissa77754 2012 Glog

Hey Everyone
icon_smile.gif

So I figured it is about time I start a Grow log of my own and I will do my very best to keep it up to date. With two kiddos and a massive amount of plants my days can be pretty hectic. I grew jalapenos and serranos last season, had a decent harvest considering the small pot size I used. In July I met a nice lady giving away hot pepper seeds to newbies on GW, decided to give them a try, August met Smokemaster through a generous SASBE offer and the rest is history!! lol

I started a batch in late August so I have some "overwinters" if you will, living in SoCal I can grow year round with the right protection from time to time. I started out with a cheap 12'x7' hoop house and when the winds thrashed that I bought two 6x8 with shelving, still the cheaper plastic hot house type but the shelving makes it heavy and the winds don't phase it. I also have a 6x6 indoor tent with a 4 bulb T5 and 2 monster size CFL's. The growth indoors versus out does not even compare, T5's are amazing! Have to thank my bro for giving me that fixture.

I am hoping I didn't bite off more than I can chew being it's my first real season growing super hots mainly. I plan to sell some plants along the way to help fund my pepper growing addiction

My log will be pretty picture heavy which I am sure most will not mind! Enjoy and happy pepper growing to everyone!!

Thanks Paul!! For the next couple weeks I will be a full time farmer again! :D The owner of that company was a quack job and I refuse to work for someone like that! Not worthy of my time!! But I have another position 5 mins from my house that I will likely start in the next couple weeks. For now time to get caught up outdoors and spend lot's of time with my girls!

choco hand grenade  :woohoo: :woohoo:

Choco indeed Joe!! And they taste ohhhhh sooooo good!! :woohoo:

Melissa look amazing as usual glad to see everything working out for you. I decided to place a radio in the pepper sanctuary hopefully that encourages them to get into the mood and start changing color and ripening up. Great gardening and I hope it continues for you

`Great update.......Nice harvest! Pretty exciting......3x a week picking peppers sure beats 1 long day of it. Nice salsa shot! Can beat a sharp knived hand cut salsa, ya just can't get that from a blender...
Enjoy your extra time with your plants.

Greg

If you get the chance while you are wallowing in that forest you calla pepper patch....can you post a pic of the White 7 cut open?...Pretty Please ;) ! I would like to see the seed cluster/placenta as related to other 7-pots.
PM sent...and have fun "playin" garden catch up!

WOW Melissa, if your getting that kind of harvest 2x per week your going to be up to your ears in peppers in no time. Time to start making some sauce and powder. Looking great even with less attention from work.

again :woohoo: thanks

That's right. F them quack jobs. It seems the higher some people get in a company, the crazier and more narcissistic they become.

Damn right Pia! The higher they get and the more money they have makes them superficial A-HOLES!! No amount of money makes it ok, if I didn't have so much class I would have given her a piece of my mind. But even that was not worthy of my time, just moving on and not looking back!

Thanks Fernando! Music should do them some good, make sure to bump some santana for them from time to time! ;)

Awsome pics! Everything looks great!

Thank you!! :)

Thanks Greg! Fresh chopped salsa wins over cooked salsa any day, the two just don't compare! Glad you agree!! Take care! :)

You are in luck Dave, I picked up my brother yesterday to help me out in the garden and snatched a white 7pot! It is sitting in my fridge now so either today or tomorrow I will get those pics up for ya! ;)

Thanks RM, I already have a good batch of smoked and non smoked powder whipped up. And we have been making lots of salsas! But when the larger harvests start coming in I am going to need another freezer so I can store them away! Thanks for stopping in! :)

Things are looking great Melissa, i especially liked the looks of those peach habalokias.

Keep up the great job!!!

Robert

Thanks Robert!! :) Aji Joe sure knows how to spread some amazing varieties to the masses, Joe you rock!! :D

Ok Just a couple pics until later today, these were taken yesterday at my brother's house. I finally convinced him to become a member on here so maybe one day he will start his own log? MR_POTS where you at?!?!

This one I gave to him was labeled yellow scoropion but looks more like a bhut to me? Really bumpy and super hot but damn are they good in some salsa, love those yellow pods!

Looks great Melissa yea I got a rotation setup that every day the genre changes when the focus is more on the instruments do to the vibration signals it would send out to the plants. Santana is in there especially "Transcendance". I will send you some Lemon pods once they are ready amazing overall. Great job with your whole garden

Thanks Fernando! I need to get some tunes playing for the plants too, but the garden is too large for them all to hear! lol. Gotta pick which ones get the special treatment. Lemon pods huh, similar to the Aji Limon?? I love those!! The yellow pods are my favs, nothing beats that citrusy heat! Going to have to set up a pod trade soon, you got some cool stuff that I don't have! Spread the heat huh Fernando! ;)

Plants and pods are looking amazing as usual!

Thanks Jamison!!

I personally think they are better than the Aji limon I grew those as well last year. The Lemon have a higher citrus flavor and smae level of heat. I normally add half of one on a Caldo de res or fish and it adds enough heat and lemon flavor that it reduces the need to add some lemon juice. I got the seeds last year from Beth, but I noticed she took them down this year I guess.
