Hello all, I am Shane, a new member and also new to hot pepper growing. I am currently growing some Regular Habanero, Red Hot Cherry, Red Chili, Long Thick Cayenne, Jalapeno, Mammoth Jalapeno, Thai Ornamental, Numex Twilight (supposed to be hot but mine seem extremely mild) and Cowhorn (I am also growing some no heat peppers I wont mention here..).
They are all in containers (earth boxes and regular pots - 14"), we cant keep the deer out if we plant in the ground. They devour everything so we put these in containers and they are on our back deck...I am wondering though, how they would like the heat of the chili...! I bet they wouldn't, but I had rather play it safe and not find out...
I have a small, purchased greenhouse that I am planning to put up within the next few weeks, I am hoping my pepper plants can have an extended season in it. We planted them later than most, and are just beginning to see the plants yield ripe pepper. I picked two habs, a Red chili and 3 Red Hot Cherry Peppers today!
Some of my Cayenne are also starting to ripen, but I was very disappointing to find the one that was almost there had a long black, sunken spot on it...the rest all look fine, so I am somewhat puzzled about what it was.
Anyway, just wanted to throw my hand up and introduce myself.
Shane
