Thanks Scott. Hope your weekend is going well. The temps are crazy here. Thanks again for the info on the shade cloth. I haven't given up on the dirt yet. We might see some dirt action this year.Devv said:Chuck,
I got the 30% black with grommets and the sewn in tape.
Reading what you and Mikey are saying about the temps; that's crazy, low lows and fairly warm highs. Certainly makes for a challenge!
Plants are looking fine and hollering plant me!
What can I say I'm a dirt guy...
Have a great weekend!
The sun is intense. Some plants got sun burned today. Moved a bunch to the shade for them to recover.maximumcapsicum said:Sounds lie perfect pepper weather.
The Colorado challenge.jedisushi06 said:Oh man the sun is def intense here this year. High altitude gardening at it's finest!
You won't be disappointed. Here is a link I have posted before in my glog. It will give you the lowdown on AACT. Enjoy and thanks for reading. http://www.microbeorganics.com/#What_is_Compost_Tea_kgetpeppers said:looks good, I decided to get some supplies to make some tea as well, seems that plants love it!
The chipper works great for what it is. Can't beat free. It's harbor freight. If I were to buy one from them I would get warranty. I wish I had a little gas chipper. Would go a lot faster. The abuse this thing is about to endure will be the ultimate test. There is about 20yards of this chipped material to be had. There is also that much leaves. Found the grass pile the parks department have been dumping. Was cooking pretty good. Dug down about 10 inches in the grass and it was to hot to touch. If this one burns out I will buy another one just for leaves. Will try leaves this next week and see how it works. The plants seem to be doing good. I sprayed them with some epsom salt last night and today it's been sprinkling with a temp of 66. Perfect timing.Devv said:Nice score on the chipper! How well does it work?
I've been chomping at the bit to buy one.
Interesting Poblano and Jal.
I bet those plants came right back once moved to cover.
Enjoy what's left!

Thanks guys. I hope to get some hours out of it. Need to get more cups and start composting.compmodder26 said:Nice score on the chipper and the chips Chuck!
Thanks Mikey. Does it taste better peeling the tomatoes?jedisushi06 said:http://www.stoplookingetcookin.com/2012/08/homemade-salsa/
Here's a salsa recipe i use, i leave the sugar out and i like too make a hot batch and a non hot batch for my kid. I also pack lemon juice in the jar too.
7 horse would be nice. This electric is 1 1/2 I think. Just finished a wheel barrel full after work. Trying for one a day.stickman said:I managed to score a free 7 horse chipper/shredded last summer, and it really came in handy for shredding leaves to mulch the veggie garden with. Hope you get lots of use out of yours too... they're really handy.
Freaky looking leaf and stem on that Jal.
Thanks that's what I'm hoping for. Never done this. Trying to go organic and natural as possible. Come to think of it I had some cayenne pepper plants fuse leaves last year. Just not 3. Never seen the fused stems before on the Poblano.maximumcapsicum said:Wood chips should be great for holding in moisture and adding a little organic material to your beds. Had some fused leaves on my annuums as well... I think they do that in growth spurts, so congrats!
Happy growin' bud!
Thanks for the kind words LS929. The tea that I'm using now is just a couple handfuls of humus, half of cup of castings, couple sprinkles of Myco, and around 5 tbl of molasses. Not to precise. It all goes in 5gal bucket of water that has been sitting for a day. Throw air stones in and let brew out side for a couple days. I add a table spoon of molasses every day. I am no pro at this. But it is easy to do. Will do a more precise brew coming up. Just trying to get some biological action going in my soilless mix. Here is we're I startedLS929 said:Chuck, this glog is phenomenal. I've really enjoyed the pictures and explanations. I've seen the CopTea being made a few times but maybe you could break down what proportions of the components you used and how you have your tea system set up?
