PaulG 2014

Grow List 2014 - Many new varieties and a few repeaters.
This is the third year of my original three year plan to grow a slew of different
types to see what grows well here before settling on some consistent performers.
I'd love to grow some of the new varieties from this season again, and some more
of my favorites from 2012, but not enough space.  But I have seed for my favorites for
season 2015, so I have something to look forward to already!

Major goal for season 2014 - lay in a good supply of super hot powder!

Dang, already planting out. Making me feel like a slacker! I got excited when I saw the 10 day forecast, and started scheming about when I could get to planting, but then I remembered I still needed to harden the little guys off. Ah well. They'll get in soil soon enough.

All the plants are looking great! That Mystery Cross is shaping up to be a giant!
I can relate, John!  I'm literally chomping at the bit to get some more dirt on my hands!
Hardening off here is so difficult.  Very frustrating sometimes.   I'm at the point where
the plants will just have to adapt, but the nice weather coming up should give them a
real boost!

Yeah baby... Dirt-day cometh! It's all looking stellar Paul. Glad the Cheiro Recife is doing well for you... did you plant any sweet Paprika too? I can't remember.  I'll definitely be planting out tomorrow. I just need to get some rain to hydrate the planting space before I do. Cheers!
The little Cheiro is a very pretty plant.  Hope it really grows out in that sunny spot.
Good luck planting out.  I'd be happy to send you a few tenths of rain - my soil is
just workable at this point.  We had .6 last night, so i need to check the containers
and see if I can get anything in the ground today.

I did plant a Sweet Hungarian.  It has set one pod and has another on the way!

Camera angle must have me fooled then.  It looks way taller than 3.5 feet in that shot!  Regardless, she's going to be a GIANT!
I had to use the wide angle lens to get the pic!
The parallax makes it look 5'tall1

Stellar job Paul on getting the plants settled...gradually.
I like that approach rather than trying to get most of it done at one time.

I have a few of Goats Weeds growing, some from seeds out of chili's that you sent me and also from my original stock from Fatalii. I'll have to take a comparison photo, my or/seeds are producing shorter bushier plants while the strain you sent me are very tall (1 main stem) with down facing flowers...interesting

Looking at the photos here has encouraged me to get a few plants in the dirt this weekend.
I just have to dig out the "rain gear" first....ha
Thanks, Greg.  I'd like to do more at one time, but weather is not cooperating,
and it seems to take me longer to gets anything done these days!

My Goat's Weed seed came from Shane originally, then I sprouted some self-saved seed.
The 2nd gen. was very tall, like you say.  I went back to the seed box and found some of
Shane's original seed for this season.  The plant has gone through lots of pinching and
pruning since i started it in Aug, so it's a very cool looking plant.  Will post a pic in the near future.

 Planting out in rain gear.  How fun!  Good luck getting some plants in their containers this
weekend, Greg.  As always, thanks for the kind words and visit.

Plant out time is truly upon us. Let the fun begin.
Hear!  Hear!  The next couple of days are going to seem like two weeks, we're so close.
The 7 plant-outs are getting a little wet and chilly right now, but we have a week of 70˚-90˚
weather starting Sunday, with lows in the 50's, so they will get a good recovery period!

Hey Paul,

Impressive set up. I m jealous...:)
Can you satisfy a curiosity please...why are your pots raised from the ground? Obviously a stupid question with an obvious answer....lol

Thanks, Rory.  It's a work in progress that has just sort of evolved over the years.

I raise the containers a bit just to make it easier on my back    ;)
It's a senior citizen thing

Glad to read about that nice weather forecast Paul.

I hope it stays for you.
I keep checking the forecast every 30 minutes   .  It seems to have actually gotten slightly better
for tomorrow    We had two showers today that dropped about a half inch in a combined
10-15 minutes, complete with small hail.  Some of the leaves on the plant outs got perforated, but
not as bad as I had feared.

Hope to plant a few out tomorrow.

JJJessee said:
Beautiful pepper garden you have going.
Glad that hail wasn't any worse.
Keep on plantin'
Hey, Jessee,  thanks for stopping' by!

Our hail here is usually just pea-sized and mixed with rain, so it's
not catastrophic like in other areas of the country.  The big leaves
get a few holes and rips, but the smaller ones are flexible and
don't seem to get damaged.  Hope that trend continues!

If I can dodge the showers, a few more will go in today. When
the nice weather starts on Sunday, I'll ramp up the effort and try to
get all the peppers and tomatoes, onions, marigolds in by next
Friday.  Whoo-hoo   :woohoo:

Good luck for the rest of your season!

Okay.  You know what this means.

We actually had a better than expected day today, so jumped out between showers for some planting out.  Got 9 pepper
plants and 13 tomatoes into their containers.

A slightly different view.  I've never seen anything like this:

I know other folk are planting out this weekend - I hope it is going well for everyone.  Tomorrow should be a
great day here, weather wise; high 68, 0% chance rain, less than 20% cloud cover

That is awesome news. One of these months I'll get my hands dirty.LOL. Beautiful pics. We had showers all night and suppose to drop into the 20s. Looking good Paul.

Woo Hoo! Paul's got it goin' on in the dirt! :woohoo: Errything's looking stellar brother! Funny that the Costa Rican chile has blue flowers... that's gotta be unique. Keep up the good work!
Thanks, Rick.  Should get the final dozen in the dirt today!  The Chili costa Rica is a really
beautiful deep purple plant.  The seeds came from Hippy Seed Co. The aerogarden is just
kicking' it into high gear.

I don't know how you CO folk do it.  Between cold and wind,
peppers have a tough go of it.  Kudos to you all!

Very nice Paul!

I love the dirty hand shot, almost as much as the gals in their new shoes.

WOOT!
Hey, Devv.  It feels good to get some dirt under my fingernails!

Will get some pics up tonight.  Just a few more to plant out. In the meantime,
these are Penny's tomatoes (except for two) in their new homes.

Man, looks awesome! And dirt day!  Congrats.
Your plants are looking beautiful.  I enjoyed the use of the smoker cover and the shelter you made.  That Chili Costa Rica does look stunning!
Thanks, Andy.  Feels good to get the peppers out of their confined
spaces and into the fresh air and real weather.

 Everything here does double duty, and the smoker cover is no exception!

From what I can glean, the Chili Costa Rica is a lot like the Black Pearl.  Shiny black
round pods turning red when ripe.   Supposed to bee pretty hot.

Good luck getting your own plant out/garden going in the face of your upcoming move.

Plants are looking good Paul.
Thanks, Jeff.  Your set-up is looking awesome as well, my friend!

Yeah it's strange weather. Coming from Southern California 7+ years was a shock. I've adjusted and maybe if I grow the same strain every year maybe the they will adjust as well. LOL. Tomatoes looking good.

Looks like you have some very cool Tomato varieties Paul! Where did you get the seeds? I have a few new varieties I got from Meatfreak... Italian cherry and slicing tomatoes and a Russian plum.
