PaulG 2016

Okay, back in the saddle again.  I checked out of this forum last September,
when my wife and I went on an 8-week vacation.  We had a blast, then I came
home to two months of yard work to catch up on, and holiday season to
contend with

I just this week finished grinding up all the dry pods from last season.  Managed
to get my seeds in to soak on Jan. 15th, and into the Jiffy Pellets on Jan. 16th.
I'm going for fewer varieties this season, but 3 or 4 plants of most varieties that
I grow out.  No small pod peppers this year, just too labor intensive for the results,
although I have some awesome small pod powders laid away.   Speaking of which,
I have so much powder I'm considering packaging and selling some this summer.
I'm going to try to sell my fresh pods this Fall, so maybe no more powder production
until I need some, and then, just my favorites.

Congrats on the extreme membership. It makes my life easier, to just shoot and post from my phone.

Hope the bac spot goes away.

Bonchi is looking good. It'll recover in no time with fresh soil.

That's a beautiful pic of the coast. I swear, I've seen that place in a movie.

Thanks for sharing.

I agree about being able to upload from phone.

It's possible you have seen the big rock in movies.
It's called Haystack Rock, and is one of the most
photographed scenes on the Oregon Coast, according to legend.

The bonchi got sort of fried while we were gone - don't know if
it will bounce back or not.

I'll be interested in hearing how the milk and water spray works out for dealing with the Bacterial Spot. Glad to hear that not all plants are affected, and good on ya for getting ripe pods in June... Woot! :woohoo:

Thanks, Rick.  The Padrons have sort of made the grow season tolerable thus far!

The JA Red Habaneros are ripening up the early season pods.
Hard to see in the pix, but there are no pods setting on the last 5
or so nodes. This may be all the Red Habaneros I get unless
things turn around with the nice weather. I hit all the plants with
kelp foliar yesterday. Will try Jamie's milk and water trick in a couple
of days.

Lots of nice green pods in the third pic.

Nice looking JA Habs Paul.

I finally have 3 or 4 tiny ones after 4 rounds of trying. Just not a good year for me I guess. We trudge on...LOL
I feel your pain, buddy. I'm afraid a good number of
my plants will only have a couple of pods this season
unless something changes. There are a few bright spots,
like these Fatali on a plant from peri-peri's 2015 seed.

BTW, Scott, those red habs are 3rd generation from the
seed from you and WalkGood.

I guess we can't home runs every year...

Good to see the JA Habs are doing well, such a nice pepper ;)

Managed a bit of a harvest. Gave away about five
times as many small, runty and distorted pods.

Hybrid BJ, Mystery cross F4, Fatali, Padrons on the left.
7 Pot Burgundy, Chocolate Bonnet and JA Red Habanero
on the right. Small harvest, but these were the only pods
I thought were decent.

I work 6AM to 2:30PM, I do my 8 hours with a 1/2  hour for lunch. I'm the IT director for a small school district, with 2,000 students and 300 or so employees. I get up at 4AM. I engineer the networks, 33 plus servers, the Cisco phones system, the HVAC server, 4 surveillance servers, our backup systems, and all the Internet stuff, you know...www, email, email archiving, student email systems etc. I also write basic web based sql solutions as I like too ;)   I don't sub out anything but new fiber work, all the IT is in house. We have 1,600 client PC's and 400 plus IPAD's. I have 2 employees under me, one is LB. My PC tech handles the PC's with LB helping with the over flow.

And I have a wonderful wife that both works with me and helps in the garden. I'm a retired auto tech, that specialized in all the onboard computer systems for 17 out of 25 years in that field. Simply a fantastic background for doing IT. My specialty is I can think, and problem solve.

Here's my kudo's to teachers:

I can read and interpret what I read, thanks to the fantastic teachers I had in the 60's. They put that type of learning (reading and comprehension) ahead of everything else. IMHO it's the foundation of all learning.

Coming from the private sector, I really feel every parent should spend a month working in a school district. I know I had no idea, not a clue about the dedication, the caring, nurturing, the positive reinforcement that the kiddos get every day from the people who work every day in a school.

This Chocolate Bhut Jolokia (2nd generation from
some GaGrowhead seed) seems to be cross- dressing
as a red. The pods are decent, but as with most of my
plants, no new pods recently. This plant will get
Jamie's milk and water treatment.

Very nice Paul. Love the Habs.

Can't go wrong with Fatalii. Those plants always look great. One of my favorite peppers.

Great looking Choc/Bhut pod's, even though they're red.

Thanks for sharing. Always enjoy your glog's.

Haven't seen your glog in a while.  Sorry to see your battling disease.  Hope you can get that taken care of.  Nice little harvest though, going to be a while before I get my first ones, everythings a lot later for me than last year.
With the weather that everyone east of the Rockies
had this year, I'm not surprised things aren't quite
normal for this grow season.

Thanks for the visit, Justin!

One of my favorite peppers, as well, Charles. We'll see what happens
with those choco bhuts as the summer rolls on.

Speaking of Fatalis, how about a Fatali Salmon sandwich?
