I tried some Early Girl Bush maters this year and they did well.
I don't think a single plant grew above the cages, and production is worth a second run on these..
I'm interested to see how the Dwarf plants grow out. Is Dwarf still a word we can use, or have the political correct peeps deemed that as a bad word now?

I have a funny story about a student and the "R" word...

And I am very appreciative, Bryan! Some
are doing better than others at the moment.
Waiting for them to really settle into their new
pots, and the summer weather to see how they do.

Thanks, again, my friend. Hopefully I will have a few
seeds to share back with you.

Some more recent plant-outs.

The Cappuccino Chiltepin looks like it might
make it after dropping about 90% of its leaves.

Your plants are looking good Paul.
Mine are looking pretty bad.  The weird weather we had really took a toll on them.  Frost then a couple days later highs in the 80's with brilliant sun then 9" of rain in just a few days really set them back.  Today is upper 80's with low to mid 90's tomorrow!  WTF!

At least I can see nice plants on here.

I feel your pain, Ty!

We have had similar weather here, although not
the deluge you had. Between that and aphids,
my plants look okay, but they just don’t have that
nice, glossy  glow of health. I am hoping that they
begin to look better as they grow into the nutrients
in the pots.

Good luck heading to the summer, my friend.

One of my favorite annuum varieties - Chili Costa Rica,
seed from The Hippy Seed Company. Multiple pods at
every node, and probably one of the most beautiful purple
plants around. The pods start out black, then turn red as
they ripen. In late Summer the plant looks like it has bunches
of black and red marbles all over. Despite being hammered
by aphids, the plant is doing well, and putting out some nice
new growth:

I may have to get one of those going in the sauna for the winter :-) Never grew pepper with dark leaves before but it fascinates me somehow.

That Chili Costa Rica is gorgeous Paul. I don't remember seeing that one before. It might be the first plant on my 2021 grow wish list lol.

And I'm in the same boat as Tybo - the weather has truly sucked here in VA. I haven't been able to work the garden until a few days ago. Waay behind on planting out. Then there's the aphid decimation of 2020. I lost several dozen plants to them, and what's left are stunted and struggling to survive.

Thanks, fellas.

The pods already on the plant should be isolated,
since there was nothing else flowering around them.
Be sure to hit me up for some seed later in the season!

Same to you, DR. I would be happy to send some seed your way, too!

I feel your pain, friend. I managed to save my
plants, but you can definitely see the results.
Maybe some summer weather and nutrient
uptake will help them to recover their glory!

How do you like the pods on the Chili Costa Rica pepper? It’s absolutely stunning.

As fresh pods, not so great. Very seedy.
However they make a great powder.

I agree. It is one of the most spectacular plant
in my grow, and my go-to ornamental. Growth
is bushy and they get loaded with bunches of
erect pods.
