Thats what im aiming for King, then i can try some blending of powders.

Your title "Peppin` Ain`t Easy" is never more a truer statement, dam aphids.

Mezo.

@Mezo- You aren't kidding. I was lucky enough to avoid the aphids but trade one thing for another. There's no getting away with a care free season. In the end, I'm still doing what I love to do.

@DnR- The smell is amazing, the taste is too. Fresh powder tastes just like the real thing. I love it. The colors are so cool too. Powders are versatile and don't spoil in a few days. That's a great thing.

UPDATE: I've been getting a few harvest here and there, no big hauls yet though. I'm hoping this cool weather doesn't take all of the steam out of the rest of the season. I'd like to get at least one decent harvest. Soon I will have to decide which and when to over winter my plants and get the garden ready for winter....man that went by quick. Next season is going to be the culmination of everything I've learned this year. It will be an unforgettable season next year if I have anything to do with it!

I'm in the works of making a fertilizing system at my buddy's. We are taking a 55 gal drum and converting it into a spraying system that we can mix our fertz into and make life a whole lot simpler. Can't wait! Hope the end of the season is treating everyone well.

BEAR DOWN!

Hey, brother! Hope you have the white fly problem licked.
We get those here, too, but usually earlier in the summer
when the rhodies are putting out new growth. the WF love
the sweet sticky new leaves, and can ruin all the new growth
on a shrub in a few days. On non-food plants, I use Orthene
(nuclear) and on food plants, the Neem seems to work pretty
well.

Some nice poddage there, my friend, and your powders look great.
I've just been saving my dried pods. I have so few, that powder
would only take up a little vial!

Our season is winding down, too. the temps are really moderating;
from high 70's/80's and 50's to 60's/70's and high 40's. If we can
just hang on a few more weeks, should see some more ripe pods.
Hoping for one or two more harvests.

Hope you had a good weekend, David. Keep up the good work!

Excellent looking powders. I have been powdering my butt off all summer too. I may or may not have lost my garden to frost last night. Hows the weather your way?

Hey Pauly, sorry for the delayed response. I've been in a mood. Trying to crawl out of it. I just let the white flies be. The cold weather seemed to keep them in check. They are still there but no visible plant damage. The cold temps have really put a damper on the ripening of whatever pods I've got left. I covered them a few days when the temps dipped into the low 30's. I've accepted that the season is over. I have to move quick to pull the ones I'm going to overwinter and then figure out how were going to set it all up!

Hope you can get the most out of your garden by the end of season too (If it isn't already over) Another year gone but always lessons learned. Next year is going to be the big one. Hope the rain finds some regularity. It's all been a fun ride. Now to watch my Bears make it to the Playoffs this season!

Excellent looking powders. I have been powdering my butt off all summer too. I may or may not have lost my garden to frost last night. Hows the weather your way?

Thanks Bodeen. The weather sucks my way lol. It has been unseasonably cold and dipped below 32 a few times. We've covered the plants a few times. Now we are just letting it all play out.

Damn King. Been awhile since you updated. Hope you are too busy processing thousands of peppers!

Mr. Squatch! You know what they say "Hope in one hand and shit in the other" but hey I am proud of what we did accomplish this season. Our harvests were very small and few and far between. We will be getting a few more pods here and there but nothing substantial. Next year is the big year! Now we just have to make some of them through the winter so we can have some second year monsters. How's everything on your end?

Well folks I just entered my "Dirty Thirties" yesterday. Reminds me of the country song "My Next Thirty Years" time to make things happen.

We've been trying to keep the garden alive as long as possible so we can get one more harvest in before it's all over. So far they're all alive. We will be digging up a few of them to bring inside and overwinter. So this glog will have life again soon!

I've been reluctant to update as of late because really there wasn't much to update. I was also in a mood for a while and just really had no desire. Sorry pepper freaks, I should have pulled it together for the greater good of the GLOG!

Here's some pictures from the garden a few days ago and also a few pics of the fishing trip I just took up north. Didn't catch too many fish and my buddy has the pics of those (because I caught them all, he got skunked....sshhhh) but here are a few of Lake Partridge Wisconsin and the Wolf River.

I hope you can squeeze out another harvest with your extra work there. That lake looks beautiful. If nothing else it looks like a fun, relaxing trip!

Happy birthday yesterday! My son's is today. Good time of year. The 30's aren't bad at all, at least so far. I'm to the point where I often forget exactly how old I am, but maybe those are mostly on the days my kids keep me from sleeping.... hmmm....

And good luck with those Bears. The Lions have returned to their old form, so I don't have to worry about getting upset at the NFL season anymore. I'm free to not care. Oh well, go Tigers!

Thanks Pulpy! Yes it was nice to get away. Even if the fish weren't to hot, we still had fun. We should get a small harvest; a few long choco Habs that I've been waiting to ripen. Otherwise it's on to dreaming about next years garden. My thirties will be fun. I'm looking forward to it. My sister said she is more excited than I am because I'm joining her (32) lol. Maybe my thirties will bring me some rug rats to go gray over!

Happy belated B-Day!! I thought my 20s flew by,my 30s have been breakneck! I rememeber being 29 yrs 364 days old and the morning I turned 30 I had a couple hairs growing in my ears. Really? Overnight? Thanks life!!! I hear when you turn 40 your hair just slides off of your head and onto your back!

P.S. How much are you selling that Loch Ness Monster pic for? Last pic in your post.

P-son.....you're kill'in me man! If that happens, I'm going with dreads. I'm going to make my thirties better than the last 29...the pic?...make me an offer...I'll be reasonable.

Lmfao. Pulpy you hit it on the nose (pun most definitely intended) the chicks dig it brother!

Looks like it was a great day on the lake. Fishing is just that, fishing. Catching is just a bonus. Welcome to your 30's. For me, life didn't really start until I hit my 30's. Young enough to still have fun, but aged enough to know how to stay out of trouble. After 45, well, that's a different story... ;)

Hey, Happy Birthday a few days late. Life starts at 60,
so youse guys still have a ways to go!

I like the pic of the plants with their coats on!

Hahaha, DNR you've got it right. I'm still working to get out of the trouble I caused in my 20's!

Sausage, bacon, fishing, and peppers plants just awesome. The garden looks good hopefully everything survives through the cold.

Socal, the breakfast was magnificent and you know we had some chili's and powders to go along with it! The garden is ok, we are going to have our last harvest soon and then shut things down. We are happy that the last harvest will actually be a little decent. I'd have to say that our harvests never amounted more than a pound...maybe a little more. This one should be about 2  which is still wimpy compared to what all of those plants should have produced but hey it was a learning season. This next week is supposed to have some 70's for the high so it should help along the ripening. Hope everything is good in your world.

Thanks Pauly! If I make it to my 60's that will be an accomplishment....a lot of livin' to do inbetween and I'm sure when I get there you will still be climbin' mountains and pickin' peppers.

Yes, the plants were all bundled up for the weather. We had a cold snap roll through and we weren't about to lose the few peppers we had left! The plastic bags did ok. Some of the plants were still affected but the pods are in great shape and ripening up every day.

UPDATE: Well, the end of the season is very near. We are going to be harvesting our last bit of peppers for the season and then deciding which ones we are going to bring inside for the winter. They are all out of their seats with their hands raised to the sky "ME ME ME ME ME" Sorry kids we only have room for a few....and :shh: some of them I didn't care for. "What's that kids....no no no, we love you all the same" :liar:

My buddy and I have been working hard at drying everything we did get. I've smoked quite a few of them (Brains, jonahs, white bullet habs, sweet cayenne, red/brown naga morichs along with some others) In a week or so we will be formulating a handful of powder varieties. We have one recipe that is locked in, we've had an abundance of people test it out and immediately want some for themselves. We are going to create a few more different batches and then we will have them for sale. We've purchased some very nice spice jars and hopefully will come up with some cool labels too. Be on the look out for "Hot Toddy" and "Delirium" soon! :hell:

We have to figure out how we are going to get these plants indoors and setup to cuddle up in the shed till mothera' nature brings us some growin' weather again. We are thinking about purchasing a different source of light other than the t-5's we used this year. Maybe HID....I might check out the LED too. In any case we need some more POWER baby! T-5's don't pack enough punch to the sqft. As well we are going to be cleaning up the garden and throwing all of the green waste into our compost pile....add some leaves from two big yards and a bunch of pumpkins after the 31st! Oh yeah it's gonna be sweet. We plan on sending in some of our soil to get it tested. We need to know what we are working with and any potential problems we might need to amend...well I know we need to do something but THEY need to tell us what lol.

Other than that, I had a job interview yesterday that went pretty well, as long as I passed the ethics/personality test they gave me, I feel confident I might get the job. I will let you all know hopefully on Monday. It would be a needed change in my life so wish me luck pepperfreaks

Here are some pics for your viewing pleasure.
