UPDATE:
What's up Peeps. So yesterday was the final harvest of the season. We didn't strike gold or anything but it was the best harvest of the year. Might try and put a box or two up in the marketplace. We need funds for a light!
So now that the season has come to an end, we are going to be pulling up about 10 of the plants we grew this year. They will go in the shed for our first overwinter project....I can see this ending well...lol I'm excited, it should work out great and then next season we will be starting about 27 new plants. This year we had 39 plants on the one side and it was crowded, even with our stunted growth at the beginning of the year. So we will be planting only 30 on that side and 6-7 on the other side. This way we will have one less row and 1-2 fewer plants per row. Should work out better and allow more room for bigger plants...that is hoping we get it right this time!
Today I am going to go over to my buddy's and give all of the plants we are keeping a nice haircut and install the lights we are going to use for OWing. Then tomorrow we will be digging up the plants and putting them in their new home.
So I have a question for anyone reading this glog. We received some quality grade potting soil (about 30cuft) from a friend. This soil has been grown in for one plant cycle (aprox. 9weeks) they use it and then replace it every time. They feed their plants with nutrients and then flush the soil out a few weeks before harvesting. So now I have the soil. I don't know much about flushing and it's possible they were using some heavy nutes such as 30-20-30 or higher (not sure just assuming it's possible) does the flushing get rid of everything good in the soil? Is this soil completely void of nutrients and if so, how do I rectify the situation? I was thinking of using this soil for the OW's. If I don't use it for the OWing, I will be throwing it in the compost pile and I'm sure that would fix any nutrient/beneficial organism issue it might have...BUT if I do use it for OWing, (which I'm sure the plants do not use much nutrients in this stage) I want to make sure that it has a little something in there for them.
What are your thoughts guys/gals?
Here are some pics for you to check out while you think lol and somebody give me a bump because I've got a bunch I want to post!
