Hey Siccy, Thanks for asking! He's coming along good. We hear him playing along with lots of different songs, I can't remember the titles, but they are pretty complicated. He picks most of it up by ear, and I help him with some of the tricky parts. OH, one guitar lick he's learned is the Dick Dale/Pulp Fiction fast guitar song.
He started out with violin for 3 years, then clarinet for a year and then the band director asked him to play bass clarinet, which he's been playing for the last 2 years. He's just finishing up 8th grade and the director has asked him to play bass in the HS jazz band next year. He's pretty stoked...
His grade of kids are pretty accomplished musicians compared to others his age. Last year, the director wrote out the score and the 7th-8th grade band played Kashmir. That ROCKED!!!!! I keep telling him to get the band director to do the same thing with Bohemian Rhapsody....but it hasn't happened yet~~~
wooh woo wooh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lets back everything up for one minute! "you help him" are you telling me you play? you just might be the girl of my dreams!
you tell him that big dog sic said keep that shiizey up! and when he gets a jam put together i want to hear it!
p.s. you can aso tell that band director to do rhapsody or im coming over there and tearing shit up!
Yes, I play keyboards mainly, but have also played bass in the garage band gig for several years. I've a pretty good ear and can dissect music down to hearing mistakes on recordings. So If he can't get a spot, we work it out together.
i thought this was cool. just because you cans see the spider web"you have to squint your eyes and look threw the bottom of your beer bottle" but its there.
