PIC 1's......Pod Pornage.............2012

Here's the start on my grow log. Well no pods yet but I have to start somewhere, and away we go!

The seeds in the containers are all c.chinense. They were dunked in a germinating solution for an over-nighter on December 1st.
This was the first phase of the germination process with plantings happening every 2 weeks through the month of January.
The annum species and the mild/medium strains will get planted late Jan through early Feb.

Most of these are "Super-hots.

Here's a shot from today, things are looking up and up.

IMG_2132.jpg

Here's a unique looking seedling. It has 3 cotyledon's and a set of 3 true leaves. The seedling is a Trinidad Scorpion Green, seeds are from Chris (cc). I've seen the triple cotyledon with my Coronong's but not the triple set of true leaves at the same time

IMG_2118.jpg

Here's another seedling that caught my eye. The leaves are as dark purple as my Dutch.Hot's. This one's the Purple Bhut Jolokia seeds were also from Chris. I know the leaves will eventually turn green.....but right now they look pretty...

IMG_2136.jpg

Did somebody say "Purple"......Here's one of my overwinters. The Maui Purple. The flowers have set and soon the chili's will form...........yea

IMG_2142.jpg

And finally another overwinter and was an over-achiever/producer last season. That's why its here. It's's the TS Butch T

More to follow, soon

Greg

Hold your horses.......................opps. Sorry, let me re-phrase. The 24/7 is only for the seedlings (especially for the Bonnets at this point) until they're potted up into 3" containers. The constant light is with my T8's. My light cycles now are down to 14/10 and the cycles overlap. Downstairs I currently have 8 - T8's running with 2 timers. The cycles overlap, therefore the plants either receive direct light or side light. Same as upstairs. I have 4 timers with a variety of T8's and my MH 400'S. That's the room where I start my seedlings for all types of plants. Those lights are on 24/7 but like downstairs the remainding lights run 14/10 and overlap. No dark periods.

Greg

I see you have been putting minimal effort in again greg ;)
Wow some great photos and update there bro. Approximately how many tomato plants are you growing this year? Will you sell some of those as well? ?

Hey Tripp,
I counted 240 starts.......I lost a few due to damping off in the cooler humid basement. I plan to sell most which , by then will be in 1 gal containers next month.
I'll probably keep around 30 plants for myself

Greg

I hate to hear you wont be able to keep up regular with your updates cause o love checkin them out! Your grow is a real example of what you can do with an indoor grow if you put in the time and do things right. Plants are lookin huge and great! Kitchens not too bad either :)

I would be speechless if this was the first time seeing your glog but through your entire glog has been nothing but perfection and hopefully it continues Greg

Thanks, "Beeman" for checking this out. I'll be here and there and updates will be sporatic at best.
Yes, you're right about "fine tuning" the indoor operation...this hasn't happened overnite, and there's no looking back at this point. I'll continue to work at making the indoor process more successful.

Hey Brandon,

Thanks for taking a look.
Man I was hoping on getting out at least the OW's this weekend, They're sitting on an 8ft table in a bedroom window. The temperatures back down in the upper 30's to mid 40's this week. I.ve got both cold frames and the hot tub enclosed area filled with over 200+ 1 gal containers filled with tomato plants. Next week I'm hoping on moving them out and bringing my 2 gal peppers plants into the coldframes to harden off. I also need to pot up 200 annuums to 1 gal pots, then I can use the 3" pots for the egg plants, summer squash and cukes. It never ends around here.
I'm involved in a few plant sales, But suprisingly enough not everyone is into the superhots. I do pretty well with the medium, sweet peppers and plenty of tomatoes. By the time its all over I'll plant about 175 various pepper plants. So yes there will be peppers........................lol

Well I'm off to a 50th B-day party........I wish it were mine, it would send me back a couple years............. :tear:
Hope your family is doing well and you can get a series of 70 degree days

Greg

Another great update Greg had to double check the date to make sure it was not just a bump, because you seem to never have a lapse with your babies just perfection. How are the plants that you moved outside to harden off you definitely have an awesome garden with a great variety. How are the tomatoes this my first year growing any tips.

Looks good my man. I am always amazed at the branching you get. Some of those plants are sprawling.
Makes me feel good to see an imperfect leaf edge or two on a master like yours. I stress about every leaf that gets a little nick from pot pinching. Enjoy your weekend.

Beautiful growth as always Greg. I love the kitchen pic, makes me want to wade right through them picking peppers. Hope you find the time to do what you need. Best of luck to you.

My, oh my, oh my... what an stunning plants you got going, Greg. I can only dream of having those great looking plants with that beautiful foliage. Who knows, maybe when I'm grown up :) Anyway keep'em coming!

Amazing again Greg! Thanks for gracing us with an update this weekend! Its amazing how much plant those little pots can support! Give them babies some new shoes! Every time I check your glog I have to hit google afterwards to look up some of the pepper names! Such a great variety! Photo skills top notch as always! Can't wait for the true "pod pornage" to start!!!

I'll join the chorus of saying - Amazing work Greg! I especially love the shot of the Pimenta da Nayed. I have no idea what that plant is or what the peppers look like, but I love the color and what a nice way to do that pic. It really stands out. Can't wait to see all the pod shots you'll have!

Thanks Chilehead,

My pepper plants are still indoors under the lights, but my tomatoes have been out in the cold frames for a few days now. I'm hoping on getting my Overwinters outdoors this week. I might do a few photos soon on tomatoes in the "growing other" forum in the next week or two.

Thanks J.B,
Theres always bad leaves here and there, its usually the oldest ones or some that may have been too close to the lights.
Today I must have cracked 3 or 4 branch tips off some of my largest plants by accident, If I had nothing else to do I would have recut them and threw them in some cloning gel................but I have more than I need..................

Looking really great Greg. !!!

Thanks Mike................did you move?

Hey Shane,

Sometimes I have to hit the Google to see the peppers......are they red or yellow???............ha
I can't wait til the c.chinense start pumping out the flowers...

Thanks Andy,

The Pimenta da Nayed pods are dark purple almost black.........Patrick and Chris are among some growers here that have some interesting crosses
using that chili.

Greg

Greg- you have a regular Sherwood forest going on there,l have to say they are all that awesome shade of green that screams we are ready to burst!!!!

Hey Greg. Nice plants. Your last years grow looks like an army ready to conquer. Your pic with the pods looks like its factory harvesting those pods. Always willing to learn from your mistakes and success. If love to taste some of your favorite pods. :)
