Put new strings on my explorer tonight. It's a custom job my wife had my step-dad build.

If you look at the fretboard, you'll notice something funny.

The frets are fanned out, giving the low E 3/8 of an inch more than the high E. This give each string perfect intonation, and make solos a little more fun to play.
 
My too, especially this one. Fanned frets, not a single piece of plastic on the thing, the face on the pickgaurd is the green man and matches our wedding rings. And I'm almost certain it's the only guitar built in the US in a decade that has a brazillian rosewood fingerboard.
 
gibson got busted like 4 years ago raided by the feds for having some rose. so im sure there is thousands of necks built with it. also i sold exotic lumber for 5 years before moving to florida 2 years ago,including gibsons custom shop sold to several guitar builders that had all kinds of wood they whernt suppose to have.

i get that. what im saying is gibson custom shop was still selling stuff untill they got raided,because they were trying to use up their back stock. and ive seen thouands of "board feet" of illegal lumber sitting in shops being used.

anyways i dig the guitar,bet she sounds pretty!
 
I think Gibson got raided because the Indian rosewood boards they were importing were unfinished... no frets.... so it broke some out of date international labor practice/raw materials law. Treated the blank fingerboards the same as importing raw wood. In order to be legal, they had to be fretted already. I could be wrong about that though.

when they got raided i lived 30 miles from the plant. it was local news. also the company i worked for had been selling exotic lumber to the custom shop for several years. the master luthiers would actually come and pick threw our maples. they got raided because they had stacks of illegal lumber in all kinds of stages. they had been putting out necks and bodies for several years. four years ago you could order a custom guitar using several diffrent kinds of illegal lumber. from what i understand they continued to buy illegal lumber years after it was banned from the 'black market"

I pulled the NOS tubes to run new Tung-Sol straight across and subbed a 12ax7 for the normal 12ay7. Had to do it so I can run the attenuator sitting in the bottom of the cab just so I could get it up to 6 on the chickenheads. Even running it at -9db of cut, I still have to aim the cab at the wall so my blood doesn't begin to boil like its being microwaved.

Drummers hate loud amps.

post that shizzey. let me go take a couple pics of my amps. i love loud amps. i cant stand when im playing drums and i have to use brushes on a cream song because the gutarist wont turn up. i love loud amps and i need to see that marshall :dance: . im taking pics of my gutitar and bass rig as we speak.
