Purple Thunder / Bhut Jolokia x (PdN x Bonda Ma Jacques)

I have decided to start a dedicated Grow Log for
the Purple Thunder Bhut Jolokia hybrid.

It made its first appearance in 2015:
"This coloration might be the result of the intense
light on these red Bhuts, but only 2/6 show the trait.
If it is a cross,the only purple-y plant near the bhut
was Trippa's Mystery Cross. All of these seeds from
the same pod:"

I believe I have 6. Split between two different varieties of purple thunder. I think 100% germination on them.

Lol thanks, but I didn't do anything. Literally just put them in soil and added water. Now if I can actually get a few peppers this year I'll be doing great

Sixty percent isn’t a horrible germination rate!
 
There are varying degrees of purple foliage across
the Purple Thunder strains. The summer sun will
be the final arbiter of how purple they get!

Here’s an update of my Purple Thunder. I planted 4 seeds each of the BJH-2 and BJH-Mystery and got 100% germination.

That is awesome, Rick! Are you going to
grow out all eight plants? Those are my
two favorites of all the strains.
 
Good luck carrying those to plant-out,
the plants look great! Some nice shading
on the BJh-2.

Yes, I love the color of those purple leaves. I have one plant in a different tray that looks the same. The other one is labeled as a scotch bonnet. Will need to wait a few months to see what that one makes.

The cycle begins again. I’m growing the
Purple Thunder BJh-2, yellow pod variety.
Slow to germinate, but several hooks:

Also to touch on the interspecific crosses that go into a lot of the peppers we love. Yes, frutescens in a Bhut. And yes, Annuum in a PdN. As most chinense dominant plants you come across with dark foliage and color to the flower will most certainly have some Annuum in there. Now we also come to the fact that both frutescens and chinense are within the Annuum complex and that makes things even muddier. The worlds highest renowned chili expert can’t even tell the difference between some frutescens and Annuum based on visual morphology.

I finally get to post a picture in this thread!
 
This is a PT Mystery that just sprouted. It was in total darkness in the germinator until immediately before I took the picture, so I'm not putting much stock into the cotyledons showing full green. The stem, however, already shows a deep purple - does that remind you of anything PtMD?
