rhm3769's 2014-in the ground!

So I'm setting aside 12 plants to attempt an overwintering.... looking at having 45 plants for 2014....
Plants I'm overwintering, 4 unlabelled supers that didn't produce, pimenta de neyde, purple flash, butch t, two unlabelled ornamentals from ajijoe, another unlabelled ornamental and pequin.
I have 11 varieties I'm waiting on from a sasbe offer here: super chili, aji pineapple, bishops crown, brazilian starfish, 7-pot jonah, datil, chocolate hab, f2 yellow fatali x red savina, and three wilds, c04392, c01225 and tc07246.

I have seeds saved from my last two seasons for orange manzano, rocoto amarillo, an okinawan variety, white habanero, golden habanero, tazmanian habanero, scotch bonnet, jamaican mushroom, yellow fatali, serrano, santa fe grande, aji limon and a few others.... I have to narrow down what I'm growing from my saved seeds....

Raised beds same as last year, about 4'x4', 9 plants per bed.... thinking I'm gonna go back to miracle gro, my first season in 1 gallon containers with miracle gro was better than this last one with fish emulsion and seaweed extract in raised beds....

Top section are overwinters in cups.... starred ones are those that didn't or won't survive.... crossed outs were replaced.... bell and banana aren't set in stone....
Next section is trades....
Next are what I have seed for.... fatali, serrano and santa fe grande are still going strong outside, might not replace them....

Correction, chocolate hab hss been replaced with congo black....
F2 in the top section are tge fatali x red savina f2s.....

Grid to the side represents my beds.... 3@4x4 and one 4x8.... the interior plants are accessible....

Almost ready....
Its a mix of the starting medium that came with the burpee germination tray, not sure if its coco coir or peat, some miracle gro potting soil with moisture control and some gardeners potting soil that looks kore like mulch than soil....

Considering skipping the soak, got 34 sets of seeds going in.... instead, a light misting of weak chamomile and seaweed extract once they hit the dirt.... plsnning on setting the starting tray on my computer tower, it keeps the spare room comfortable.... in okinawa, it was a pretty constant 80-83 degrees but it also stayed around 75 inside....

Huh, interesting heat source idea.  If your seed is relatively fresh (from last season), they should do fine without a soak.
Its overclocked to 4.4 ghz and runs 24/7 with 7 of the 8 logical cores at 100%....

Thanks.... seeds will go in this weekend.... this class will be more interesting than the last two, its more programming than research papers, but since its grad school, there will still be a lot of writing....

Small issue.... the cover for the starting tray is cracked.... out of clear plastic.... considering just letting them go natural with the exception of being in the tray.... they'll be going in the tray tonight....

Love the play by play. Any pics?

Good luck with classes. My undergrads convene on Monday as well, though I already started writing again this week. And so the semester marches on...

its too dark, the light on my phone bkurs the seed when its close enough to pick up the tap roots pushing out....
The time is wrong, but the temp is correct.... in the garage. ... about 930 pm.... it'll drop down to mid 50s in here bed ore going back up to mid 70s....
Figured these temps are closer to what they would naturally experience.... last I checked they don't fall off the plant and sit in dirt over a heat mat and get cocered with plastic. And they sprout fine....

Lightly misting as needed to keep the seeds from drying out with just enough seaweed extract to color the water....

I use clear packaging tape to fix my domes.
Can't stand to toss anything out
