rhm3769's 2014-in the ground!

So I'm setting aside 12 plants to attempt an overwintering.... looking at having 45 plants for 2014....
Plants I'm overwintering, 4 unlabelled supers that didn't produce, pimenta de neyde, purple flash, butch t, two unlabelled ornamentals from ajijoe, another unlabelled ornamental and pequin.
I have 11 varieties I'm waiting on from a sasbe offer here: super chili, aji pineapple, bishops crown, brazilian starfish, 7-pot jonah, datil, chocolate hab, f2 yellow fatali x red savina, and three wilds, c04392, c01225 and tc07246.

I have seeds saved from my last two seasons for orange manzano, rocoto amarillo, an okinawan variety, white habanero, golden habanero, tazmanian habanero, scotch bonnet, jamaican mushroom, yellow fatali, serrano, santa fe grande, aji limon and a few others.... I have to narrow down what I'm growing from my saved seeds....

Raised beds same as last year, about 4'x4', 9 plants per bed.... thinking I'm gonna go back to miracle gro, my first season in 1 gallon containers with miracle gro was better than this last one with fish emulsion and seaweed extract in raised beds....

Tc07246, c01225, super chili, bishops crown, brazilian starfish, jamaican mushroom and one of the fatali x red savina f2 seeds are hooking.... the cgn21500 and datil that started earlier dried up too much, hmmmm....

I got them in a trade.... was hoping for 4 plants.... still have a few days before I start replacing some that are looking rough....

Two more of those f2's, hot lemon and purple flash have hooks....
That accounts for 11 of the 32 cells....
Gonna drop more tr inidad scor pions, rocoto, manzano, datil, cgn21500.... give it s few more days and toss what I have left of my pepper joe stock in cells.... 3 seasons and nothing but poor results from most of ehat I have bought.... no issues with his free seeds, only purchased stuff I didn't start the first year....
Could be uneven heating this year, all of his are on one side of the tray and nothing has popped on that side....

Gotta figure something out.... gonna be gone this weekend, I have no lights, can't leave them in a window, the one in the foreground is already looking leggy and searching for light.... might attempt to moce these few into cups or something already so I can get them some sort of light....

Other option is to get one of those cheap work lamp reflector things with the clip and a cheap bulb just to run over the weekend.... budget is tight and can't drive around all day looking for a proper bulb....

The only seed not popped yet that aren't from pepperjoe are the 7 pot, rocoto and manzano.... rocoto sprouted last year, they took a bit longer, so maybe they're just diffixult.... the manzano I got from store-bought pods.... they're a lighter brown than the rocoto and I don't remember if the few I tried mid season popped.... 7 pot seeds still look good....
Oh, forgot about the c04392, not popped yet.... 19/33.... 6 of the 14 are from pepperjoe, 7 are from trades and one self collected.... one of the 7 sprouted last year and they sprouted this year but didn't survive already....
Thinking I'm just gonna scrap the pepperjoe seeds and find 6 replacement plants....

I had decent luck with some varieties back in 2012 when I bought them.... less germinated last year.... interestingly, those I didn't try the first year didn't germ last year and I doubt they will this year....

Butch t, scotch bonnet, white hab and sante fe grande all grew my first year and last year.... butch t was difficult, white hab didn't grow more than a few inches.... actually, I think one of my hot jamaican/jamaican mushroom is one of his, too and one germinated....
I have 0 chocolate habs, 0 bolivian rainbows,

Sadly, I didn't feel the $30 I wouldbhave spent on the clamp lamp shield reflector thing, a basic light bulb and timer were worth it, considering they would have to be moved away from their heat source.... and I didn't want to have to answer to the wife about an unattended light on for so long. ... set some stuff up on the washer and dryer in the garage to get them closer to the fluorescent bulbs in there.... it'll be cooler, but I doubt those that haven't germinated yet will within the next few days.... more worried about them drying out right now....
