RocketMan's 2013 Glog; In The House!!

There are no gardening mistakes, only experiments." -- Janet Kilburn Phillips

I love that quote and it will try my best to remember it through this new grow. So, I'm going with only 18 varities this year as we're looking at moving to a larger house if not buying this summer and I really don't want to have to try and haul a ton of plants when we do. the ones I've selected are:

1. 7 Pot Jonah---------------------------- Pic 1
2. Aji Lemon------------------------------- romy6
3. Chili De Arbol Negro------------------ smokemaster via SocalChilihead
4. Datil-------------------------------------- Pic 1
5. Fatalii------------------------------------ Pic 1
6. Gochu----------------------------------- Stickman
7. Red Savania--------------------------- Pic 1
8. Chocolate Habanero----------------- Pic 1
9. West Indian Yellow Habanero------ Pic 1
10. Jalabanero---------------------------- SocalChilihead
11. Jalapeno------------------------------- frydad4
12. Douglah-------------------------------- Pic 1

Alot of them are ones i started last year that never grew beyond a certain point and I'm pretty sure that a lot of it was my new grower mistakes. Since I really want to try them I'm giving them a grow again. Once again, thanks to everyone that helped me getting started with gifts of seeds and to all on here thanks for leaving your incredable words of wisdom that we can all learn from.

Cheers to a bountiful grow this year.

I hear ya. I like the cold, wild, no salt, ferment. Straight from plant to mason, lid on loosely, in a cold, dark basement. Nine months later you have gold. I get the best flavors that way. What strains you using?

There's 2 things I use for a starter, Sourdough Hooch and whey from plain Dannon Yogurt. I prefer the whey, gives me a more aggressive start and the left over yogurt is better than any cream cheese ever hoped to be. the sourdough works well too just not as aggressive and if your not careful you can pull some of the yeast into the mix. doesn't hurt just looks bad.

Don't you guys worry...those little plants will start hitting big numbers soon. Lol...careful what you wish for!

Thanks Shane, I really love this little plant. Last year when all my plants were not doing well, I think I started them too late and they had a hard time with the heat, possible that some kind of bug or virus hit them but when Fall hit with cooler temps, the remaining ones perked right up and started producing, but this little fella was just pumping them out. I have 3 more started and am hoping by the end of the summer I'll have enough of the little frie crackers to make a Thai Hot Sauce. Yum, Pad Thai in a bottle ;)

That surely is some pretty rocket fuel.

Your seedlings are coming along nicely and the OWs are workin' overtime. :)

thank you Sir. It's mighty tasty with a nice Zesty flavor.

Here's to good seasons all around.

Update time

So while we're waiting to see where the new Launch Pad is going to be I'm keeping everything containerized. I have about 25 root pouches so I can pot up those that get too big for the solo cups, well to a point. So, here we go:

My little Thai Short Hot has been a real performer

As you can see here it took a little hit during the last rain storm. I'm going to try using some dowel rod and ties it up. Maybe it'll heal, any thoughts

Fatalii Red

So after hardly doing anything last year isn't she looking beautiful and filling out nicely?

Now, I need some help to identify these last 2 peppers. The kids being kids removed the sticks. So, mystery pepper 1

and getting some really nice pods. Hey, those 2 look ripe!

Mystery Pepper 2

This one has given a couple of very small red pods that were very Pumpkin looking in shape

Currently has 8 of these which are bigger than the first ones were

I really thought these Green Beans were done for after the first hard Florida rain smashed the crud out of them but theyr're persistent little Bastiges and are coming back. One even has a blossom on it.

Have a great weekend, thanks for stopping by.

Hey, Bro Bill, going with Jamaican x Choc Hab x Black Cayman, aka, cya in guess work. Pretty pods: love the chocs! But woah, how come the red fatalii didn't do much last year: really looking forward to those (and an Indian Summer) since plant-out has been about a month behind. Please do tell what the issue was, because I know you have plenty of grow season, or was it just anomaly? Nice BKrims and purdy basil. Noticed some of Lemon Basil had started to flower . . . not EVEN planted out. Whack, whack. Dang. Asked friend if I slaughtered a squirrel, smeared blood of it on doorway if she thought next two night cold front would pass over us, because otherwise, could plant out. She didn't respond. Hmm.

I really don't know what happened with them. At first I thought I had a virus or something in there or some kind of bug was getting to them. Leaves all curled and stuff and then when Fall hit and the temps cooled off they started coming back like gang busters. Really I think I got a late start on them and the heat was affecting them because they weren't big enough to take it.

Looking great! Those maters are freakin huge! I am definitely gonna readdress my "peppers-only" grow next time around!

That mater is maybe 10 cm wide. I caught it with the close up so it looks big. But yeah, there's something good about peppers and maters :)

If I had to guess I would say choc. Scorpion because of the shape

Thanks for the possibles, I didn't plant any choc Scorpions but I did plant Choc habs and Jamaican Hot Chocolates so probably one of them.

Got a little harvest while I was out too

Starting doing some reading here last night, still finding great glogs and it's getting harder to keep up...hmmmm maybe that's why weeds are taking my garden over...

I really have to come back and start from the beginning, for now just caught it midway.

Love the sauces you're making, the more I read here the more talent I find.

Plants look wonderful!

Have a great grow this year,

Scott
