RocketMan's 2013 Glog; In The House!!

There are no gardening mistakes, only experiments." -- Janet Kilburn Phillips

I love that quote and it will try my best to remember it through this new grow. So, I'm going with only 18 varities this year as we're looking at moving to a larger house if not buying this summer and I really don't want to have to try and haul a ton of plants when we do. the ones I've selected are:

2. Aji Lemon------------------------------- romy6
3. Chili De Arbol Negro------------------ smokemaster via SocalChilihead
4. Datil-------------------------------------- Pic 1
5. Fatalii------------------------------------ Pic 1
6. Gochu----------------------------------- Stickman
7. Red Savania--------------------------- Pic 1
8. Chocolate Habanero----------------- Pic 1
9. West Indian Yellow Habanero------ Pic 1
10. Jalabanero---------------------------- SocalChilihead
11. Jalapeno------------------------------- frydad4

Alot of them are ones i started last year that never grew beyond a certain point and I'm pretty sure that a lot of it was my new grower mistakes. Since I really want to try them I'm giving them a grow again. Once again, thanks to everyone that helped me getting started with gifts of seeds and to all on here thanks for leaving your incredable words of wisdom that we can all learn from.

Cheers to a bountiful grow this year.

When I double dug the garden for its first use, it didnt get any real treatment.  I just dug it (rather my dad dug it while I nursed a wicked hangover...) and planted.  It worked out great for me.  I did use some granulated ferts when i planted, but aside from that nothing on the initial plant out.  I used tea, kept things organic, and over the season it built up a great little ecosystem.  Myco will probably help with the transplant shock (maybe) if you even get any, but if not it will definitely help with root development and getting the ecosystem in sync.  I would wait a week or two and then feed with some tea and those babies should love their new home!

A second on driplines.  I have a dripline setup and ran the lines under the ground and then had T-Tape running on the beds.  I used soaker hoses the year before, and it worked fine for me.  At the end of the day though I only ran my dripline 4-6 times the entire season.  And 3 or so of those where before I realized that the plants didnt need water.  For some reason my soil kept moisture well, and the rains came at the right itme.  I would get a few days of moderate to heavy rain, and wouldn't need to water for another week.  But there is definitely a benefit to having them if you go out of town or want to feed in line with a fertilizer reservoir.  But out of the soaker hose and the T-Tape (only 2 I have used) I would definitely go with the T-Tape.  It gave a more even watering and lays under the dirt or right on top extremely well.  The soaker hoses typically are placed on the surface, vice under the dirt.

Good luck on the bid.

I go from pot to garden, I just dig a larger hole, throw some potting soil in and stuff the plant in the hole. Keep watered especially well the first week, continue the nute applications.

Thanks Devv, it's going to be a slow process but we're hopeful.

Had my biggest harvest yet this morning:

Have a great weekend everyone

So I was going to fix an omelet for breakfast and then discovered we only had 1 egg and 1 egg an omelet is not. Anyways i had already cut into this

and decided to give it a try.

Heat: about Habanero level mainly on the top of the tongue and some lip burn.

Flavor: very nice pepper flavor. Different than a Habanero, not quite as fruity as a Hab.

So, I'm going to have to go back through my Glog from last year and see exactly what this might be.

Update time and what a week it's been. I've had to start watering every morning, just a little bit, otherwise when I got home they'd be all droopy like a weeping willow. But, wow have they out in a lot if pods this week! Ok, starting with the babies:

The whole lot. Had to go in a Search and Destroy though, found a lot if snails on some if the cups

Hey RocketMan... looking fantastic my friend! As for the food... it's breakfast time here in Africa... and that looks like the right kind of rocket fuel for me ;) Maybe a wee drizzle of something hot...

If you need more than that Rocoto Powder, you could probably up it to some Ghost Powder. It was warm but not over the top :)
