RYMERPT 2022 into 2023 GLOG

My buddy asked me for seeds a couple weeks ago. I told him its to late in the season, but b sent him the seeds anyway. This will be his first time growing peppers and he is going with a small hydroponic kit he bought.
Well, because he started this late, I thought what the hell. Sooo I ordered a new heat matt (should arrive today) and went out and bought some soil. Im using the same solo cup method that has worked so well before. Two cups, top cup has holes, water from the bottom up.
I sowed (three seeds per cup) 1) REAPER 2) YELLOW NAGA REAPER 3) FATALI 4) TEPIN X LEMONDROP View attachment 108 143[/ATTACH]

Wow, say/write 420 or marajana and people come outta the woodwork. I'm astonished how many think weed is better than sex. Jesus, in my day it was a major no no unless you were a hippie or just a stoner. Oh well, enjoy my friends.
On another note. Everyone of those little guys, that I worked so hard on, with the exception of BOO has tanked. Makes me wonder if it's even worth my time to grow from seed. The plants from the nursery are hardy and seem like a better idea. It was fun though & I'll likely keep doing the seed thing year after year. For now though I'm going to rely on the nursery.

Good morning everyone.

QUESTION:

DO I NEED or should I add a mulch atop all of my buckets? If soo what do you recommend?

You don't NEED to. It could be a good extra to retain water in your soil if it's very hot for example.

It's also used to suppress weeds, but I think in buckets, that won't be a problem. I use mulch for my thick clay ground to improve the structure of the soil over the years. With your soil that won't be necessary either.

Mulch can be anything. From the leaves left from autumn to compost to wood cuttings to small pet bedding to sheep hair shavings.

Note that not all mulch (wood chips) should be used everywhere without thinking what you'll be planting. The linked article described when to and when not to use wood chips as mulch.

OK, unless I get a wild hair I think my garden is now complete:

Bucket full of Scallions
3 Scotch bonnets
1 Trinidad Scorpion
1 Habenero
1Ghost
1 Big bertha bell pepper
1 pickling cucumber
1 Persian cucumber
1 early girl tomato
1 yellow cherry tomato
1 Yellow pear tomato
2 basil

My son volunteered to turn the soil in the small plot next to the shed. I think it is 5ft X 8ft. We went together to the nursery and he went off. Here is a list of what has been added to our garden:

1 jalapeƱo
1 Roma tomatoes
Chives
Red onions
Chocolate mint
Cilantro
Strawberry
Corn

He also wants to add carrots & sun flowers

Lots of this went into buckets

Getting closer and closer to being done planting the garden.

These carrots will go in Sunday (Chris wants them in the plot)

QUESTION:

I put BOO in a 15 gal bucket, but he is nothing but green stock. He still hasn't woke from the over winter. He is still green and that tells me of his potential to be great again. He has zero leaves and that worries me. What can be done to get him to join the land of the living and become the king of the garden once again?

A bit of an garden update:
My son is addicted.
Every time I turn around he brings something else home from the nursery. OK OK I am as well.
He just brought home two more tomatoes, another strawberry, and a lavender plant. I brought home seeds for those cool multicolored carrots and some radishes. We also bought two more bags of soil and a six pack of snow peas and a six pack of pole beans.
BOO I think is almost dead. It saddens me. I'm gonna give him just a bit longer.
