Snails are almost there

for fresh top end in Australian restuarants its about 10 to 12 dollars a dozen. But I'm a bit off that yet, more for a bit of fun for me and I want to eat them lol

Ive had damn loads of them Pest here..All the lovely wet weather brings them out

I saw on T.V last night how the Romans introduced escargo to the french.
said they used to fatten them up on wine & 'spelt'. When it came to eating them they added pepper & a little pig fat into the shell & cooked them over hot coals...

oooohhhh it looked good, i could almost smell it through the screen

so do these things reproduce like fish tank snails? if they do you should be sitting on a gold mine......i put 2 damn snails in my tank last year and about six months later was over run with the wee little bastards.....had so many i ended up taking down my tank.

any chance of a few sub-enclosures to fatten them on different things? I remeber when i lived out bush we fed a goat indian curry powder on everything before he got open fire spit roasted for a winter solstice party. Still the best texture/flavour meat I've ever eaten.

Red wine, barley & curry powder snails...mmmmm would they eat crushed garlic too?

I'm gonna have to build my own enclosure now...stoopid t.v doccos :D

I picked up a 'mustard green' from one of the members of the grow.local group. It grows a bit like a lettuce but tastes exactly like Hot english mustard. I mean exactly. Purple leaves. very odd. I only have a small plant in a little pot...if you think you can propagate it you can have a go. Mustard snails?

lol that links gonna follow me around for a long time :P

I dont know the real name, it came from an indonesian lady i met through that other place...she was there when we all met up with Chris at your shop. It looks everything like a very small cos lettuce. One I have is only a few inches high. Have no idea about it, just pour water on it every day & it stays alive, tear a bit of leaf off & it tastes like hot english mustard...nasal passage clearing & all.
Love the stuff...maybe BB knows about making more, maybe clone the leaves.

I kept seeing the snail thread there Stillmanz and I never clicked on it. However, I looooooove escargot!!...MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!

fish tank to start or a couple milk crates with shade cloth. and ground chicken pellets and dollamite for food (they dig calcium)

only the final cooking, they are fed corn flour and given water for4 days tehen two days of just water finalday no water. placed in a fridge for 4 or so hours to drop them into a hybinated state and then boiled, no worse than crabs or lobster.
