Snow Storm Tonight

This is the third largest one day storm we have had since I moved here in 1986. There was one in 1993 where we got about 30 inches in a day. You are right THP today is a beautiful day. Nice and sunny. A little cold and windy, but still beautiful.

I would love to see it with my own eyes.....even at the coldest part of winter I have to drive for hours to see something even close to snow.....It's more like watery ice!!! :(

This blizzard calls for NY pizza. Fresh eggplant slices with naga powder.

Living in the North you get used to the snow just a part of life - -I rememeber as a kid having more snow but this weekend was a nice blanket -- we got 12" and the state was between 10-24" -- its just a matter of firing up the woodstove and getting creative in the kitchen... Christmas cookeies and Bloody's MMMMMM-mmmmmmm

In St louie if we get snow like that it is often layered between ice- I think its been about ten years....the city was shut down for about a week, schools were closed, the buses didnt run, nobody that didnt have to went to work. a local diner employs mostly neighborhood folk so they were open...and packed. The manager didnt bother to pass out menus, the delivery truck hadnt made it...he made a big pot o chili and served chili and coffee and beer, all night long. NObody cared that there wasnt anything else, they just had to get out of the house-especially if their electricity was out.

Our weathermen are predicting another winter like that. The freezing rain is supposed to start on Christmas eve, changing to snow over night. We wont get the bad stuff till January or February.
