After looking at how ugly this old shelf looked i went down to the local bunnings to get some wood to make new shelving to match the study furniture .

Now with the timber frame i made for it the light can slide in any one of the two bottom shelves.

What type is that??
Its top secret mate , many years of select breeding , lol nah just joking , well its a moruga plant i have , and on the plant half of the pods are the true moruga shape and the other half the pods are this knarly looking shaped pod with a huge tail , all i can think of is its a cross of maybe moruga x primo? what are your thoughts??

It might be worth collecting seeds from this and see what it grows out like next season.

You're getting some nice pods :)

Maybe a stupid question but does that yellow 7 look orange to you? Is it my computer or the camera messing with the colour?

Your right moo it does look kinda orange , but its def a yellow 7 , i have pods in the kitchen that iv picked and there yellow, it must be the way the sun was that day when i took the photo, iv had that plant for a couple of seasons and in the middle of the season the shape of the pods look like a true yellow but to start with early in the season the pods are all shapes, dont know why that is .its original seeds from Neil .

This is a pic of the same 2 plants from last season moo.

My yellow 7s are exactly the same. Early and late season they are different shapes and later season also a darker yellow. I think that is common for most pods (especially the superhots)

Yeh Trippa , i can remember reading an atricle on thp about people thinking they have been ripped of because pods dont look true , and yet i thought the same thing when i first grew my yellow 7's, i thought they were crossed , but towards the middle to end of season all pods looked the true shape .Its the same with my over wintered 7's the shape of the pods is all over the place , but its just the start of season .

Todd,

That pepper looks absolutely, positively scary. Do us all a favour on here and film yourself eating that pod!
Hahaha you wanna see me sweat and get the hicups while struggling to breath?

beautiful y7s, nice job...
Thanks mate , the yellows and scorps were the only plants that survived the over wintering..

Last year I overwintered two large plants in 3-gallon pots without any pruning... big mistake. One survived, but the other succumbed to white flies and aphids. This year, I pruned them back and potted down, but I still didn't take care of the aphids before hand and am struggling now... in a couple of months our northern spring will start and natural predators and conditions will take care of them... so far so good, but it's not a given. Next year, next year I'll do it better...

Im not sure of what sprays you guys have in the US but her in OZ we have a natural organic spray called beat a bug and at times when i have had plants being over run by aphids i have just given the whole plant a spray with it and thats all it took was 1 spray.
Its just a garlic and chilli based spray.

At the begining of our season we have like 1 month were the cabbage moths lay there eggs and the small catapillers when they hatch destroy the plants if you dont spray for them. This season i did notice at the start a lot of white flies.

Todd, love these last shots you posted, very nice! BTW, I lol'd at that quick comeback to Trippa's question, hehe hehe ...

You had me going ;)

I hear ya, even though I've grown stuff for years and I hate to admit it, I know very little still and feel the same brother rookie :D

Same goes for most people I think (when it comes to gardening). .... I always think if you aren't learning you aren't improving. I have grown plants and vegetables on and off for approx 25-26 years (since I was knee high to a grasshopper :D as we always had a primary school potato growing competition and also always helped out in my parents garden) and every single year I attempt to improve my garden by learning or adapting something I have read or seen.

Or if you're not gardening you're not growing

Todd your plants and pods are truly inspiring. Very jealous indeed!!! :fireball:
Thanks mate , i have had a bit of trouble this season with some of the leaves being miss shapen and curling a bit , i have potted most of them up in a different potting soil and given them a feed with some cal mag to try and correct it , it seems to of worked. We have had a bad start to the season with a lot of bad storms and lots of wind , but getting some good weather now..

Jamie, you guy are coming into the start of your season in the US , so i will be watching your grow and id say that i will be the one that is jealous.

That singer is a winner. You need to save that pod and try to single it out.
Thanks mate , yeh some of the pods are looking like true moruga's but some of the pods on the plant are funky shapes with some long stingers and some look not so long, ill post a couple more pics of the funky shaped ones..

I will be saving seeds from each of the funky ones to grow out next season.
