I would think they taste more like squirrel? Or rabbit? Both of which I like. Rats though are prone to eating garbage, and roaming through sewage... Both of those last two activities are reason enough for me not to eat one.
I was going to try rato en empalo in peru! Guinea Pig on a Stick, just didn't get the chance.
I have used dcon poison bars successfully... Instead of using one box as they say to though, I break one up into a bunch of little pieces and scatter them around. It only takes one bite, so more locations = more likely that rats will eat the stuff = more dead rats.
By the way, we should make a pepper with the heat of a superhot and the flavor of a wild brazil... sound fun?
Won't use poison...dogs may get into it or eat a poisoned rat.
For now I just wanna get some chinense pods of any sort...maybe later I'll try to do some crosses. Still want to retry on the grafting too. Right now I'm just concentrating on getting to some sort of super harvest!
Seal beach. Wow. I'll think about that offer. Maybe well having beach day with the family when they had recovered. Would be definitely worth it. Are you a m-f guy. ?!? I'm out in pasadena area. So will KIT with you. Maybe if I decide to pick up an aerogarden in laguna Nigel.
And as for ratatouille. Had that problem in he garage. For them all so far
Yeah...M-F I work on the Navy base there. I'll shoot you a note when they get to looking a little better. Only one still looks to be having issues. The other are just not the best looking plants because they're missing all their big beautiful leaves. They are loaded with new growth however, and it won't be long before they look good as new.
Dang Shane you might have a serious rat problem there. You may want to contact your city or county pest control if you're living in a populated area. That many isn't a good sign for you and your neighbors. Rats need a good steady food supply to breed in the numbers your catching is suggesting. Good luck man,.
Yeah, I'm considering it. I do live in town, but its got kind of a "country" theme going. They have crosswalk buttons for horseback riders up high at every corner, and horse trails and stables throughout town. My next door neighbor has chickens...and everyone around here has a dog and dog food out back. All this coupled with the fact that I am only about 100 yards from a permanent water source and I have an overgrown easement behind me. Not too sure they can get it under control. My best bet is to put out some mothballs along the fence line and resupply them every so often and try to deter them from using my plants as their food source. I've heard cayenne powder works. I am going to get the half gallon size and coat the entire garden with the stuff. Should keep the dogs out too. I'll keep the trap out and baited and hopefully they at least slow down.
Man, that sure is some "Biggy Rat" you got me "Itchy Brother" looking at them...
It could be worse they could be sewer rats....that file their teeth on steel!
I agree with Patrick, give animal control a courtesy call. Besides rat shit might be too high in Nitrogen for your plants........yikes
Greg
Poor little guys are just trying to get to my "Bee Tree" "True blue Odie!"
Too much Greg...this is serious business! Quit making me laugh!
Call "professor Messer" before they eat you "bongo Congo" blacks. This post was the best chuckle I have had in a good bit. I remember those reruns from almost 30 years ago. You are a gem.
Hard to believe those cartoons are 50 years old...wow. That would make me almost 27!

Well, the wife texted that the rat "got away" while I was at work. She said it rolled the trap! Sounded fishy, when I got home and found the trap almost 2 feet from where I had set it I knew something was up. One of my dogs had pushed through the fence and dispatched the rat for me. Found it on the back porch. Tired of talking about rodents...first flowers on my fish pepper today 4 popped!
No storm damage and all my chinenses are racing to be the first to open a flower(aside from the wild brazil which is kicking a$$). Too close to call between them...Chocolate bhut had the early lead, but its now even with Devils Tongue Brown, Paper Lantern Hab, Caribbean Red, Primo, Douglah, Black Naga, Brain Strain, the rest of the Bhut rainbow and the Monster Infinity.
Some of the plants that are blooming still aren't producing pollen very well, but I am getting a few pods to set on some new stuff. Working toward a nice Jalapeno and Cayenne harvest as well. All the tomatoes are really loading up and looking real nice...life is good in spite of all the issues!
