My 10 year old is responsible for the artwork on the cups!

Did you pay the $13.99/lb. for those? I wonder if the price varies depending on if that supply was grown locally, or imported? I noticed the tag said product of Mexico. I'm thinking the cheaper ones may be grown there in California. Just a guess.

Nice looking babies! If I lived there, I'd be starting seeds year round! I already miss watching those little hooks pop up! At least I still have the warm season stuff to sow - cukes, melons, pumpkins, and zucchini.

I paid $7.50 which is still robbery. The girl at the counter was like WTH??? Two weeks ago they were $2.99 in that store. They are grown in Mexico as well, the price difference has to do with proximity to the beach...and to folks that don't care how much stuff costs. Within a half mile of the water everything is almost double the price here. Gas is even a full dollar higher. I'll have to take a pic of my Queensland Blue Squash (pumpkin) tomorrow. The leaves are the size of pizza dish! Glad I still have some hooks popping. Don't know what the heck I am going to do with them...but they're popping damn it!

Lol Shane I going to get a cayenne off tomorrow and send you the seeds right away.
You da man! Don't leave them in that delicious red container the last ones were in...or they might get eaten!

deng... cant wait to try manzanos now....arrggg.....im going to get my buddy to smoke some of my pods (when and if i get some) and get your recipe to spice up my wifey....i mean...her cooking ;D

btw Pinoy... i got about 3 that hooked in 2 days using aerogarden... black birds eye??? numex twilight.. and glow in the dark.... 2 days!!!

Graft them! :)

try a bunch of different ways, see if you can find one you like best. The way I look at it, is at least you can find Manzanos in your grocery store... I have Orange habs, anaheim, pablano, and Jalapeno. If I want something more, I have to grow it haha.

Oh Shane.... a true chilehead to the core :). Love it man, I would be worried to leave them over the weeekend, but they're looking damn fine my friend :). Glad to see it!

First super to open a flower FINALLY is......
P1010263.jpg

The funky little stunted Black Naga! Lol...actually hoping if this thing sets pods they'll be small too. Would make a killer little bonchi.

P1010264.jpg

Same plant...came out to find 3 open flowers!

Manzano is really kicking in as well...open flowers all over...

More to follow...time to fire up the smoker!

Thanks for checking in folks! Have a great weekend,
Shane

Plants are really starting to go off Shane! In one month you will be up to your waste in pods and powder. Better reserve that spot at the flea market now

I hope so! I am certain I will have some pods in a month...but pretty sure the only ripe ones will be annuums at that point. I will definitely have some more interesting pics to share. Be willing to bet if you decide to start some of those Manzanos and kept them pretty shaded over the summer you would have some ripe ones over the winter. They are a very cold hearty plant. Thanks for stoppin in brother! Always great to get compliments from one of the best!

Your pics and editing skills are getting better and better! Starting to look like a professional!
I toyed with the edits about 15-20 pages ago...I'll get tired of the extra effort again and just post pics. If I get any really good pod pics later on I will watermark them for sure. Several folks on here have had photos sniped by vendors. I probably wouldn't care if they asked me, some of them acted like they had every right to use them without even asking though...uncool. I would love to get a nice camera setup and really get into photography, but unless I convince the wife its for her it isn't gonna happen. Already greasing those skids..."You know you should take a photography class hun! I bet you would really enjoy it!" She ain't taking the bait...yet!

Wow Shane those plants are lookin great!
Thanks Matt! Yours are gonna catch up soon in NC...bet mine look better than yours in January though!

Mmmmm the whole neighborhood smells good right now...and its all my fault!
P1010277.jpg

This is what 2lbs of Manzanos looks like once seeded and sliced...

P1010278.jpg

This smoker is almost 20 years old...looking a little rough around the edges, but its solid cast iron and will probably last 20 more. Already done with the Manzanos...got some Jalapenos in there now...and I'm having a few :drunk: !

Having such an amazing weekend with the plants...can't help but post a few more pics. Found several more with their first open flowers today plus noticed a cool trait on one of my overwinter Jalapenos.

First for the Jal...I know its just the stigma that is making it happen, but usually they whither and fall off after a bit. This one however they thicken and green up...

Scorpapenos!!! Almost every pod on this plant is like this. These pods stay small like this. Anyone else seen them do this?

7 Pot Primo skirting

AND FINALLY...
P1010284.jpg

First Bhut bloom...White Bhut  , just topped this one this morning because the old mite damaged canopy was stalled out. Hope this one sets!

Other open flowers on my Devils Tongue Brown (missed the perty part of that one) Anaheim and Goccia D'Oro (should be fully open tomorrow. HUGE bloom!) Soon to follow are the Caribbean Reds, 7 Pot Douglah and Chocolate Bhuts. All the rest are close as well...including the Brain and Infinity! I had no Supers blooming yesterday!!!

I know I am a little update heavy(compulsive is a better name for it)...thanks to all of you that not only put up with it, but come back every time!

Shane

Edit...found a Chocolate Habanero open too!!! :onfire:

You need to stop updating. It's too much.

BwahahahhahahA! C'mon man, there is never too much updates! Especially in your case when everything is different each update. TRUST me, when I start setting fruit, I will have to go into chat and beg people to comment so I can post more pics!

Keep them comin, no complaints here.

While I'm thinking about it, I read a while back from someone who claimed that they had worked for Kellog in the past.

Apparently the "compost" ingredient is composted human fecal waste.

Pleasant no?

Also, I have smoker envy.

I have a much smaller one, and have been experimenting with using a charcoal grill... but I'm not sure I like the net result as they are cooking much faster than I'd like. Faster cooking, as you know, means less smoky flavor, less heat, etc.

Posting from my phone so bear with me...

Thanks Matt, gotta get them when I can...seems as though folks may get tired of looking. Hard to hold back when so much is changing so fast.

If it makes my plants perty I don't care what crapped it out. Used waste treatment stuff on my lawn before, worked great! That smoker is more grill...ish. I just build a really small fire on one end.

Just scored about 30 free 5 gallon pots from a landscaping company working on base. They said they would stack some more up for me later too! They have hundreds out there, so hopefully its a pretty good pile.

They shut down my barracks grow station. Tried to explain that the 8 cfls are drawing very little current, and that I wasn't running my ac so it stays warm in here, and that was saving them $$$. They didn't believe me so I will take the plants back home tomorrow and turn my ac back on.

Will try to go to the computer lounge and post a couple pics later...growing vicariously through you guys, SO UPDATE YOUR GLOGS!

Shane

Hi Shane, Bummer that they told you to pull the plug on your grow station. Whaddathey want for nothin;? At least you weren't growing Pot! Lemme guess, it was probably a junior lieutenant who takes the SOP to bed with him... Field grade rank is usually more reasonable. They've already seen the Elephant.

Worse...a civilian contractor. I am a damn Senior Chief (E-8) you think they'd leave me the hell alone!

Home again for tonight, then back out in the morning. Came home to a nice little harvest.
P1010304.jpg

All Jals top and bottom lighter green ones are from my overwinters. They are very small pods but were all blistering hot last year. Now 2 of 4 of my plants have no heat at all??? The 5 in the upper left are still hot. Lower right are mild. and the ones in between with the darker color are some Mucho Nachos that I thinned off the plants because they were lagging size wise. Some anasazi beans picked early for green beans and a couple cherry tomatoes.

P1010305.jpg

Some of the mild Jals that keep their stigma-stinger attached...makes for scary looking pods, but all bark and no bite unfortunately.

P1010306.jpg

Here's my haul of freebies...so far, they're still working so I may get some more tomorrow. Throwing out quite a few that were cracked or in bad shape. So I think there's somewhere around 80 left. Hmmmm, maybe its time to start another 80 plants???

Thanks for checking in folks...next update this weekend.
Shane
