Mornin' Shane! Sounds like you've got a busy day all planned out.
Nice podage! Love the harvest shots!!! What are you going to do with those poblanos? I can almost taste the chile rellenos!
Very interested to see your potting mix comparison pics!
Morning again Bonnie! Got something in store for the poblanos today...I'll post pics, but you can probably guess by the time you finish reading this update!
That is my kinda harvest. Edible peppers! Get that smoker fired up. I am also intetested in seeing the soil comp. I love Happy Frog, that stuff drains like a champ.
Yeah...unfortunately much of that harvest was due to my virus issues and having to relocate plants. Not gonna hurt their flavor too much tonight! Happy frog is great stuff!
Looking good Shane, stoked that that nasty disease inst spreading. Later.
Looks like I may have it localized now, but too early to tell. Even with all my precautions, I handled a lot of plants yesterday installing drip lines for the containers and there's always a chance that I messed up somewhere.
Little update from yesterday. I finally got the drip system and timer installed for the containers. Momma is super stoked because she was my water girl when I was at work. Now all she has to do is peek in on them from time to time and make sure everything is happy. Also got the new toy and fired it up for the first time last night! I've had my grill/smoker for almost 20 years and it was time to upgrade. I went electric which used to make me cringe just thinking about it, but with an adjustable thermostat and no fire to build it was hard to resist...so I didn't! With how simple it is, I can start training my 11 yo to smoke peppers for me! Hahaha...no pics it didn't happen, so here you go!
First for the soil comparison...
Far left is MG and the other two in Happy Frog...hard to tell in the pic, but the MG plant is MUCH larger, they all started the same size...ish. I left a pod on the plant on the far right so not a fair comparison, but it does go to show how much one pod can slow a plant down. It is a good 10" shorter than the MG plant and 6" shorter than the other HF plant now.
Here is an overhead of the two bigger ones...I will be very interested to see if in spite of the better growth in MG if the HF plant produces sooner/better??? This one surprised me. I expected the HF to perform at least as well and maybe better. These plants were put in soil straight out of the bag, no amendments and all given the same doses of compost tea. No real nutes yet until their soil begins to deplete.
Here's one of my new timers...the other one getting installed today.
The new toy in action!
Found these guys while installing the drip system on my Yellow Bhut...
A closer look at them shows the two distinctly different pod types on this plant! While most of the pods are traditional bhut style several look more like Yellow 7's. If you look closely you will see that there are actually 4 pods on this node, 2 of each pod type.
Another of my Jamaican Hot Yellows ripening! This guy is going on the grill today.
Here is a pic of one of the leaves on my Mucho Nachos...all 4 plants are infected however if its slowing them down I really can't tell. These are some robust plants! I put them and my two fish peppers back into 5# containers yesterday and moved them to the front yard. The Fish peppers both looked terrible after the xplant, but these dudes didn't even wilt!
During the xplant I pulled a few more pods. These are from 4 sick plants, and I left some smaller pods on them! The ones on the left were from my earlier harvest. Poppers anyone???
Still have a ton of work to do out there, have to run to HD for some more 1/2" and 1/4" tubing then back out there with the punch. Pics of the system once complete.
Thanks for stopping by!
Shane
