Looking good Shane. All this tea making I'm seeing is really starting to get my interest. Seeing your results is a great testimony to it as well (as if Guru's plants weren't enough ;) ). Loving the mutant pods/flowers. Keep it going my man!

Edit: Woohoo!! I made the top of the page!

Yeah brother the stuff works! I am still tweaking mine, but I have a couple worm bins and sometimes use a little of the worm dirt in there as well. I think I have a few pods that are gonna shift colors real soon...and they're of a couple varieties that your so called immunity will be really tested by!

YEP tea FTW

in case i didnt say it... thanks again buddy...my wife is gonna kill me..but i love sharing with ERIC
Sharing's what its all about brother! Glad you like it!

Looking great Shane! Tons of nice looking pods and I like the before and after pics with the tea. Well done.

Thanks! Those pods are looking pretty mean! Can't wait to sample some of my own supers! The before and afters are really surprising even to me. When you see the plants every day its hard to see how much they really are changing, and how quickly! Just wish I would have joined the "Tea Party" sooner!

Nice looking plants Shane, sorry the virus is an issue. Love the new smoker, what'd it set ya back? I'm thinking seriously about going eletric myself, so curious.
Thanks Dennis, that's some good stuff you got there. The not sick plants are producing like crazy Shane, gonna have many more great harvests my friend so
no biggie.
The virus is a definite bummer...and with the time delay between infection and symptoms its making it impossible to know if I got it all. That electric smoker is so simple and although I hate to say it...does just as well as my traditional smoker. Paid $179 at HD for it and it was worth every penny! They have much higher end units available, and a couple lower end ones to choose from as well. Hope you're right on the harvests! I am certain to have at least one big harvest even if the all get sick. So it won't be a total loss.

Hey brother got the gift in the train box :) Thanks much! really stoked about those!! I haven't tried them yet, but I will for sure. If they taste half as good as they smell, they will be winners in my book :)

Sorry to hear about the sick plants too... Is it seed borne? I've been thinking about all the seed trading I've been doing, and how last season I dipped exactly one batch of seeds in to peroxide water (sterilize)... I doubt anyone would be cruel enough to send seed from known sick plants, but recieving seed from plants that are sick, but not symptomatic (apparently there is a 2 week window where some things are catchy, but don't show...) is another story entirely.

approaching 300 varieties of seeds, and so far so good... But all it takes is one bad one to be in a world of hurt.

How are the isolated plants fareing?
Hope you enjoy them! I know you're a pod smoker yourself so the flavor will be no stranger to you, but haven't seen you mess with Manzanos too much so hopefully you'll enjoy the different flavor they have! There is a soak that is used to combat Mild Mottle Virus...don't think the H2O2 will do it. I am going to look into it but most likely I will be collecting fresh seeds for next year so I can be certain I don't sabotage myself. Learned some valuable lessons about pest control and not being afraid to pull the sick ones. Sucks to lose one, but trying to save them when they are ill puts the rest of them in jeapordy. I already knew this, but I get so damn attached!

Hi Shane, It looks like the tea really is working for you. Reading the thread started by CalvinGuitarist I see that Pepperguru and others say that the teas help keep down pests by coating the plants with a "biofilm" if foliar fed... It could be... if so, I suppose it's sort of like the mucus film fish have on them to protect from fungal and bacterial infections. The "OB" report on your chiles looks excellent for the most part. We'll keep pullin' for ya as far as the sick ones go. Looks like you might be getting close to "Term" with the superhots. Good on ya all around. Cheers
Haven't been doing too much foliar feeding with it, mostly root zone. The few times I did try to foliar feed the stuff kept clogging up my sprayer. I am going to try again this weekend, and filter it when I mix it up...it just STINKS so bad I really don't want to do anything but pour it in my 2# water can and pour it on them then take a shower!

Lol pepper gyno...yup their gestation is almost up! Thought I saw some color on a few pods the other night, but it was pretty dark and last night I got home well after sun down. Starting to kind of like the busy weeks...means more surprises on the weekends when I can take a closer look at them!

ahaaaa Man you got some Hotties coming in! Looking forward to you trying to walk around the garden, talk, give a tour, and eat a 7 pots... This is gonna be good.

HAHAHA
The Tea party movement! I love it.

The stuff really does work as I stated before. Mine isn't all organic, or even really close. The basic prinipals are the same though. Breed cultures of good micro-organisms and give them to your plants.

I've read several threads that claim that unstable crosses are more likely to have flower/pod mutations, and on some of mine that may be the case, won't know for sure 'till I start getting some ripe ones how many crosses I got going??? The triple flower (first triple I've ever had) is on my Caribbean Red which should be true. They are from a packet of seeds purchased off the shelf.

Congrats on the page topper! Page 50 as well! That is my old College Football #!

The weekend is almost upon us!!! Can't wait for everyones updates! I see a bunch of color changing in everyone's future!

Glad my attempt at humor wasn't completely wasted!

You guys and your worm tea. Your killing me. My wife would for sure destroy all my peppers if I started brewing that stuff

Oh and plants and pods look highly productive  That smoker is gonna be working over time:)

If you use straight compost and worm castings it doesn't stink too bad, its when you throw the fish in there that things get nasty! Smoker will be fired up again in a few hours to do a big batch of Jal powder!

shane... where you getting your wood for the smoker... and how much do they run?? thinking about the future... =D
I have a stack of oak that I got for free. One of my buddies has a contract to remove trees from the National Forests around San Diego. I bought a few bags of Hickory and Apple chips from HD and they were pretty cheap and will go a long way.

great looking plants! the pods are looking good too! you are gonna have some hot ones soon!
Wussup Spongey whalecum to my page! Long time no see...I do have some good ones out there, and some CRAP, and some dead! Hey, good with the bad I guess. Thanks for stopping in!

Hey I'm really enjoying that manzano powder - great flavor, with the perfect amount of salt and garlic... Digging the smokey flavor as well :)

Applied a liberal amount of powder to my potatoes and Chicken.
Thanks brother! I enjoy making the stuff, and may be planning my retirement around pepper growing and power/sauce making. Either that or male stripper...can't decide.

You literally made me LOL with that one Shane! Awesome, spend your retirement doing what you love! I bought a smoker, not the electric one yet. We did our first batch of chicken and pork, amazing, makes me mad that I didn't think of buying one before! Despite your virus issues, the plants are looking great, lots of pods in your future! Seriously, just throw some fish pieces in a bucket and let them ferment, you will think the tea you brew smells like roses! :P And is it crazy that I think I am getting immune to that smell?? LOL! Keep up the good work Shane, don't let nothing get you down! :D

First Super to show color...Monster Infinity. Only problem is I think its the wrong color!

BBQ just isn't the same without the smoker! Just wait till you do a brisket! Takes some practice to get it right, but well worth it. I really don't mind the smell, but the better half gets pissed every time I apply the tea because it stinks up the whole house.

Shane,
The "Tea" is really doing the trick. There's nothing like some organic Nitro for the plants. Its amazing how the plants do respond. I use to get free tea from the local grow shop once a week, all I had to do was bring back the bottle. I used that as a foliar feed. The stuff was so lively I swear the plants were talking back to me.
I had some thai seeds that I brought back from Maui. Last year the plant topped 5 ft. it started to take off after the tea treat. It wasn't all veg either. Chili's galore!

Man you just can't beat using a smoker when it comes to Beef Brisket. I'll do it the day before and place it in the fridge overnight. The next day I'll take a 10" chefs knife and slice 1/8" strips.......homemade buns and sauce........canned beans (no way, just kiddin) real baked beans as a side, the best grub. Takes time to do but every once in awhile I just gotta have that "smokin fix" on the plate.........lol
I hope my plants will turn out the direction that yours are taking.
Your updates are always entertaining and worth the read...

Typed up a HUGE post...hit back space to delete something and it left the page...ughhhhh.

So here I go again! I am still in battling this damn virus, and quickly finding out I'm losing...
P1010751.jpg

Here's a nice view of how awesome my last Purple Bhut is doing...but

P1010759.jpg

a closer inspection shows the truth. All the new growth is showing signs of the infection.

P1010761.jpg

Here is the CURRENT infirmary...the two at the bottom are my Fish and FIshX and they don't look like they're gonna make it. The rest will, but will serve as incubators for the disease if I keep them around. Debating on weather or not to just call them a loss. There are MANY more now that I suspect are infected, and its no longer localized. I have been careful to wash my hands after handling any of these guys...then use hand sanitizer, but I'm still afraid I will slip up eventually. I've also been doing a ton of reading about seed treatments that help to reduce the # of infected seedlings, but none are 100% and they significantly decrease germination percentages. Trisodium Phosphate is the most recommended treatment. Think I will just call it a loss on saving/sharing seeds from my plants. SUCKS!!! I have moments out there that I just want to set them all on fire and call it a season...but then I look around a bit and find some stuff to be thankful for...

P1010748.jpg

Perfect little Brain...

P1010749.jpg

and another, they're are a ton of perfect little pods on the plant, however...

P1010750.jpg

The first pods that set aren't as purdy as the little ones, but they are sexy in their own sinister way...

P1010746.jpg

White Bhuts...these are first pods also. The newer pods are a little gnarlier.

P1010754.jpg

Devil's Tongue Brown, I've showed you this guy before. He should be ripening by now, but instead he just keeps growing!

P1010756.jpg

Here's the Barrackpore that you asked about Denniz!

P1010757.jpg

and an upskirt on her...won't be long before I have some baby satan pods on here...

Thanks for stopping in everyone and the well wishes. Real bummer on an otherwise perfect season.
Shane

Wow. Damn Shane. That barrackpore is awesome. Those are the ones underneath the desk that you got caught with. ?! Hella huge. In regards to your virus. I was wondering because I have 2 of your plants that look sick and wilted. The goccio I noticed today has one leaf looks like your bhut pic#2. Good thing is my plants are in pots. Check out my glog. And let me know if mine is looking like it. Tonight I will post a pic of that leaf. My guys are also in ISO. So ya your bishops and goccio are sick. Hope all goes well for you an hope mine are diff from yours.

Denniz

Looked at yours Denniz...they don't look like mine from a distance. I think both of yours have a fungus gnat infestation from the looks of your video. None of mine wilted like yours. The Fatalii had some saggy branches up top but the leaves never wilted like that.

Here are a few more pics from today...
P1010755.jpg

Introduces this guy to the sharp part of the scissors!

P1010762.jpg

and been busy this week. Get home, fire up the smoker, put them in the dehydrator, go to bed. Up at 3:30 remove them from the dehydrator, go to work, come home, fire up the smoker, grind yesterday's, place today's in the dehydrator...repeat. Notice the different colors of the two Manzano powders. Upper left is from Red Manzanos and upper right is Yellow/orange pods. Lower left are a few Supers + Red Manzano....so Super-Man is born! Really good. Blended 1 baggie of Smoked Manzano with 1 Yellow Cardi Scorp, 1 Hybrid Bhut and 1 Brain Strain... :hot:
Sampled some with soup for dinner...WOW that really kicked it up a notch! Gonna be a fun Summer of mixing, matching and tweaking my powder recipes!
