STEVE954 Grow Log

Hello from south florida. This year's grow started just after thanksgiving when sowed several different strains of scotch bonnet. After many attempts, I finally got my hands on some scotch bonnet seeds from the Jamaican Ministry of Agriculture!

Nice pods but all flat. bonnets need both "Cup" and "Saucer"!

Don't sweat the first pods shape...the first couple are always a bit wonky. You got pods...that's more than most everyone in the northern hemisphere!
+1 I was going to say similar ... I would expect since the plant is so small they better shaped & larger pods will come as she grows bigga :)
Yep, I'll join the chorus, the first few pods can be different. Once that plant really gets going you'll have a better feeling for the pods she'll produce.
Thanks for the imput my bredren! I agree. Give it time.

2013 plant out complete. 100+ plants

Looking good Steve! It's always exciting to see my name in print, too! My overwinter Foodarama here in Louisiana is sprouting new growth and beginning to feel its oats...

I'm guessing that even at the Min of Ag research station they don't get 100% cup-and-saucer pods...

I get maybe 50% "stinger tails" on my Trinidad Scorpions...but every single pod kicks ass!

that's awesome you saved the little guy! gonna have a boatload of pods man. 100 plants, wow!
Yeah, he's in a half gal nursey pot and doing well! 100 plants sounds good but giving away the majority!
Well done Steve. Now its just a waiting game.
Thanks Pia, I suck at that game! "Wooosah!" Your Lolitas are coming up to be some fine young ladies!
The 1st few pods are the most inconsistant. Give it time and the clusters will all appear similar. Then you can hype it up !
Thanks Greg, I agree 100%. The other potted MoA's are starting to flower up something wicked and a few have set. One plant in particular has the first 2 flowers set pods each having 4 sections which lead me to believe they have a good chance to be 4 lobers. Very excited about this plant in the future.

Can't wait for some SB Foodarama pod porn!

MoA 100% cup-and-saucer, no. I do expect nothing less than 90%!!!!

The Trini scorps you sent me were kick-ass! The heat(relentless) from the powder makes me think twice about about how much to use!
Lol...I just noticed from the photo of your Foodarama containers it looks like Greg and I are in an in situ Foodarama grow-down...

Brethren that's awesome! I can't wait to stop by and check dem out next week \o/

ever thought of cloning them MoAs??? very easy peasy... now as far as clones having buds already... i guess they are wanting to be in bigger containers..

Steve your plants are loaded with flowers. Are you using any nutrients ?
How's the 1st MoA pod coming along...I bet you can't wait until it ripens to taste it.
The flavor is what its all about.
No commercial nurients. I try to stay as organic as possible. Ground egg shell, orange/grapefruit/lemon peels, coffee, coffee grounds, the occasional fish tank water! But I do this to all my plants. The believe the loaded flowers is due to genetics in the MoA strain. The TFMs were not even close in flower production with same conditions. Here is a shot of the first MoA pod. Only 3 sections and ZERO lobes! Altough it is bumpy with a covered with little pimple spikes......interesting.

Thanks bud! You and Greg are right, flavor is #1. I am looking for flavor, productivity, and Shape! Consistant 4 sections, 4 lobes, cup-and-saucer, and alot of 'em! The plant on the bottom right has it's first 2 baby pods each have 4 sections, good sign for what's to come! Looking forward to the "best bonnet"!

Easter update:

6 of my best potted MoA scotch bonnets went in-ground yesterday. 2 went in-ground at Grandma's house!
