why mess with a proven way of building something?

Because that's my specialty! Still trying to reinvent the wheel by the way-

Moyboy, good luck with the IDS. My CIFAFDDS (considered it for a few days drum smoker) is probably gonna be put on the back burner for a good long while. I'm thinkin' about cheezin' out and just gettin' an electric smoker... Too busy this time of year and I ain't got a drum anyway. But maybe if I find one...

i already have a weber and smoke food on it just fine actually very fine, but damn those uds's look like some serious smoking theyre. seems like alot of work to get one together, have to be a good welder too. but a uds in a nice big yard bunch of food yeah i'm gonna build one of these someday no promises on any dates though. oh yeah whats the difference between a charcoal spit roaster and a smoker?

A spit is like a rotisserie. Hunk o meat turnin over the coals/fire. Good for whole stuff, chickens, maybe a big chunk of beef or pork, etc. Not as many uses for myself as compared to a smoker.

its actually really easy to put one together...i think total time i have 4 hours into actual building time on mine...most of that was waiting for my paint to dry..lol

no need for a welder...

If a Redneck wanted to build a UDS

Alternative to Welded nipples.

Nice! One more thing moyboy will say he will build

Nice rotissere setup Bam, I guess you can have it all!

Speaking of that Nova, that door might as well have a high temp inspection window lol. I want it all and have high expectations for your UDS!

Ok, your the boss ;)

I like the UDS , and still swear by it.... because of its simplicity ! No need for doors and windows, etc.

I have probably had around 20 odd cook/smokes with my original design... and that was a temp setup I thought.... now the drum is seasoned and you could just about make gravy from the thick layer on the sides ! yummmmy

:rofl::rofl:

What was the point of the update of no progress??

Damn, you know I actually read another post when I posted that, something about moyboy not burning the drum out because of the wind. But somehow my post still fit!! LOL.

You know, every time I see this thread with new posts I tune in hoping to see pics of Moyboy finally getting somewhere with the UDS. And, every time...I am wrong. C'mon Moyboy!!! I'm starting to think I bet on the wrong horse...

Wrong horse? That nag has long left for the glue factory.

Salute', TB.
