Beautiful garden. The solar mulch is doing its job. I may try it next year. Plants and pod's are looking great. Nice looking Largo. Great profile.
Thank you sir. The solar mulch I think really helped early on with warming the soil, and now is helping by keeping some moisture down under the rows in this time of crazy drought. Cheers

WOW, great grow and great crosses going on in your garden. The USBC Brown looks close to mine last year, they looked a lot like Brain Strain pods. The Scotch Brain is a great creation of Greg, it's been a while that I've spoken with him to. Did know he planned on traveling even more then he did before, enjoying the life :)
Thank you sir. I have a few UBSC brown plants and they all look really nasty. The Scotch Brain pictured above actually came from your seeds labeled f3, sent to me by Jamie. I have a different pheno growing from jamie @ f4 but don't like it nearly as much as the one pictured above. I used the one above to make some fun crosses with so far. Cheers

I know Greg was close to retirement 2 years ago, so that has happened by now. Good on him for fulfilling his dreams. I know he loves to cook. Who here hasn't experienced his sauces? Best I've ever had ;)

As for your garden: just killer! I've tried 5' between plants and rows in years past, they filled the rows (don't go by my dismal grow this year) so it's all good. And congrats on the jungle and all of it's produce!
Thank you sir. Hopefully the next time we see Greg he has a new cookbook published or something cool like that :) cheers

Sounds very exciting. Is the fruteGum a stable cross yet? The pods looked really cool.
Thanks the frutegum is not stable. I have 5 plants and they are all different..lol I'm going to select my favorite one or two at the end of the year to continue to grow out. Cheers

Early morning patch inspection looks like the following crosses I have been tinkering with have set pods. Plugging this into my spreadsheet so I figured I would give you an idea of what's on the block for next season. I may have gone a little crazy but I plan to pretty much only grow my own crosses and a couple from friends from here on out.

Here's a really bad pic of my tallest plant- 68-69 inches or so from the ground

Sorry to hear about the slug damage, but as healthy as your chile plants are, they should be able to shrug off the minor damage. If you really feel you need to address the issue... try pouring a band of diatomaceous earth around the base of the plants. It'll cut them up and they'll bleed out if they try to cross it, and it's totally non-toxic... it's just silica. It'd have to be refreshed after a rain, but it's cheap and available. Pretty cool that you're mainly planning to go with your own crosses in future. I'll certainly be interested to see what varieties you develop and stabilize then. Good luck!

Oh, and +1 on the solar mulch! It's the main reason my supers do as well as they do here.

It's an good phenotype, for me that was an desired shape for this cross. Scotch Bonnet shape with texture of the Brain Strain. Of course this was my personal favorite :) Here I thought I went crazy with the crossing, guess there are more crazy people  Good luck with growing out all those crosses!

Thanks Rick, yeah DE is good stuff I have some of it here for my chickens.  Hard to believe summer is almost over up here, nights are getting that chill to them already. It was low 50's here this morning.

Thanks I am going to continue to grow out the scotch brain, I really love the shape and size. Hopefully mine will turn yellow, looking forward to trying one. I told myself next year I won't make any more crosses just continue to grow my stuff out from last season and this one. The pepper patch here is going back to all vegetables with no peppers, and I am going to till a new plot up at my fathers farm.  I need a little more room so I will expand to 50X100 or so for next season.

Cheers

Pods look great. 50x100 is a nice sized pepper patch. I shudder at the thought of all the picking and processing.
Thank you sir. I won't be growing very many more plants then this year, just give them more room to spread out.  And give me more room to get in and around the patch. At the moment I have to crawl on my belly to get down a few of the rows and it's a major PITA.

Very cool crosses. Glad you've got a bunch of pod's. It's been hella hot here as well. Mid to upper 90's all Summer. I'm going to try the solar mulch next year for sure. I plan on keeping the plants under shade cloth so I won't have to worry about to much heat build up. I think it will help at night. Our temps drop to the upper 50's at night in the Summer. As Rick said, I think that will help my Super's.

What an explosion of pods!

Your winters may be cold as hell, but summer is surely pepper season!
Thank you sir. It really has been a great year for peppers here. Hot and dry. Anything else that needs water is suffering bad. Potato farmers are really having a tough time right now.

Thank you. I think you will really like the solar mulch, it great stuff.  I plugged a couple flat leaf parsley plants into the solar mulch also just for fun. They are the biggest parsley plants I have ever seen! loving the extra moisture think.  Cheers

Here's a quick pepper patch selfie from this morning..lol I'm 5'10 to give you an idea of scale. One of my HR X CBBG plants in the garden is a couple inches over my head
