I laugh so hard when grown-ups act like children. (give you the benefit of the doubt, and go as high as grade school)

Lots of dumb shit being talked up and down in this thread, and from an outsider's point of view, somebody looks like a ding dong.  Not going to say who.  But I'd be open to having a poll put up.

I don't want to jump to any conclusions about this until I grow it out and consult with the experts. To me it looks like a reaper. If it is he could be onto something here and I'm glad he's giving us the opportunity to grow them for ourselves.

It will cost you 12 bucks to give it a shot. I think you will be getting F2 seeds from a reaper crossing with a brown TS. If it's not crossed with a reaper, then it's probably just a brown TS. What happened to it's reaper bumps? The odds of the color and texture changing is slim unless you cross them. There are other reaper crosses around here. Wouldn't you rather grow my 7 pot Jonah x pimenta da Neyde F2 (intentional cross) for just a SASBE or another cross THP members are sharing over this unknown pepper? I think it's fine for people to sell F2s and etc., but they must know that it is a cross, what it crossed with, and not name it.

Wow....u live in a dream world Mike...u must think I don't know facts...u must think I don't talk to other people in the industry....Ed Currie has hundreds of acres of "pepper fields" u say?? Then how come last year, in ALL of 2013, he was only able to supply roughly 150 gallons of "Carolina Reaper" mash to CaJohn....someone whom Ed had "exclusive" rights with and I'm certain the biggest mash buyer that shopped Ed...only 150 gallons or so?? Rumor on the streets is CaJohn was scheduled to get over 1,000 gallons from Ed...Ed couldn't deliver... Mike, I can ship peppers next week (and every week after that) that would make 150 gallons of mash...gimme a break!! I LAUGH AT THAT STATEMENT Mike...puckerbutt is the largest?!? THAT IS PURE HUMOR TO ME! Ed Currie, The guy who can't supply anyone with anything, has hundreds of acres of super hot pepper plants?? The question was super hots btw too :) Not just "peppers"...
But then again, Ed not meeting his mash orders last year you should know PLENTY about, considering you grew for Ed Currie... Doesn't that make u partial to Ed as well?? Especially since ur growing for him again this year too? Hope CaJohn gets his mash this year Mike....if not I'm sure he will find it elsewhere like he did last year! :)
Shall I continue spilling info here Mike or can we just say that's enough? I considered growing for Ed when he asked me to, but I was too concerned his check wouldn't cash...ever lost sleep over that concern with Ed, Mike?? U don't need to answer that...I already know the answer! Shall I continue??
Man....I love drama!! Makes this site exciting!! :)

I normally don’t get involved in this type of drama cesspool, but today I am jumping in.
1)      I watched your videos last year of your company and was very impressed. I can tell the dedication by how nice your plants looked.
2)      I was amazed about what you think you know about our business with this thread. Talking out your arse does not show any form of business sense. I always chuckle reading comments about our business practices with our partners, from folks who aren’t involved and really have no clue. I work the business full time and keep records of everything – trust me I would know.
3)      Businesses need to watch the way they conduct themselves and be prepared for any fallout from the way they run said business. Many old timers remember what you have said and done in the past and will judge you from here on out, on things you say and do, until you prove yourself worthy of their trust. A list of rolling tall tales does you no good.
4)      Selling of the “Chocolate Reaper” seeds. I give you credit, on your site you fully tell folks what they may grow out, may not look like what you have posted. You basically say it’s a freak. You for a fact, don’t know if it’s a reaper. So selling it as a reaper puts a bad taste in folks mouths. Sure you will make money off newbies and those who don’t know of the threads on here. Other folks shake their head and say F1’s shouldn’t be sold as said pepper – if it’s even a reaper.
5)      The peppers you have posted are RAD!! And I’m being fully honest. Great find – whatever they are. I think you should take Jim up on his DNA testing he’s going to be doing. I’m sure you’ve talked with him lately – or he’s talked with Joe. If not give him a call. I’m sure we would all love to know the type of pepper this truly is.
6)      Why doesn’t everyone share in this cool find? Burning all your reaper plants last year and you selling lots of primos is still fresh in folks minds. Do folks believe you burnt them or that you just changed them to primos to make money? Speaking of money, many hope you paid back the fellow who loaned you money. These are threads folks started on this site - these are the things that go thru folks minds.
7)      We are all in this crazy community together – we are all not going to get along. This is life. Live and learn who to trust. This is not a fully kumbaya community, no matter how folks pretend it is.  Even with that said, the majority are great people!
Please keep us updated on the pepper and whatever it may be. Isolate that puppy!!

I think the fact that he jumped on the chance to sell way overpriced seeds instead of taking a few months to prove them, especially when he lives in a climate that allows YEAR ROUND GROWING AND SHIPPING!!!!!!  speaks to the "to make money" question quite plainly.
If I had a pepper stem, a piece of dog poo and a camera all within easy reach you'd all be looking at my version of the Baker's Chocolate Reaper right now.

Would prefer this to be in the proper forum, but it seems no matter what i post its considered "Promotion"....mods please place in correct place if not here....

I guess it was going to happen at some point out there in the world, so why not here in Florida at Baker's Peppers?? :)

I was out walking through "The Reaper" section in my shadehouse today and I happen to notice one particular plant out of the corner of my eye..... So I walked over and got a closer look....Reached out and "snapped" a ripe pod off the plant...My eyes were correct!!!

A CHOCOLATE REAPER PLANT!!

This plant had about 15 ripe pods on it and they were ALL deep chocolate in color! There is also about 40-50 more about to be ripe in a week or so. I harvested all the fully ripe peppers and went STRAIGHT to the processing facility to begin seed removal/drying from these AWESOME looking peppers! I harvested enough seed to start about 200 new plants from these and they will be started in a few days :)

Im posting this to kinda let people know it has happened, and that we are trying to grow out this variety in hopes to make it available to the public :)

I do also have extra seeds and i will make it available on our website (Update coming within 24 hours). Im not going to guarantee much from these seeds, as they are strictly accidental to my knowledge at this point. Im making them available to anyone who may want to try to grow them and try their luck! :) May grow more of the same looking pods, may not. I WILL however guarantee that the seeds you will be sent if purchased DID come from pods that look just like these pictured bellow and are off this very plant im speaking of now (This plant is no longer out in the general population, it is now in isolation.)

Also, im leaving this open to discussion, as i would like to see the members and visitors input on this topic :) Like i said, im not claiming i invented a new pepper or anything even close to that, this is just an accidental thing i found growing out in the "Reaper" section...... Worth trying to grow out and stabilize??? ABSOLUTELY!!! :)

I tried a little slice.....heat is a 10+!!!

looks like crap, just playin

Edit: i was just joking meaning the peppers look like crap, thought it would be funny just to go the other direction.

they look good, not worth a dime for seeds, but nice pod. Its too close to buying $10 bell pepper seeds on ebay at this stage

I'm not experienced enough to completely tell the difference between a choc scorp and a choc reaper so I wont stir that pot any more. I have had good results with the 2 orders I have placed from bakers other than the fact that the "mixed boxes" I ordered were just mixed red and choc scorps and nothing else. What bothers me is the fact that you (Dale) only seem to respond to the negative comments and none of the positive ones. When you do reply to the negative comments it is in an aggressive manner rather than a positive, reinforcing manner. That, I think is off putting to many people. Even on your fb post of this "chocolate reaper" there are so many people complimenting you and you still only respond to the negative comments instead of the acknowledging the people who do like what you do. That being said I wish you the best of luck. I did however enjoy reading through this thread. My wife has her Kardashians for drama entertainment and I have THP.
