food The Drunken Chef

Sorry for the blur - rockin' the iPhone again.

Home alone for the weekend and drinkin'. (Hopefully the last weekend home alone for a while!)

Made some poppers. (I don't like cheese on poppers much!)

Darker colored ones have shredded chicken mixed with SalsaLady's HOT BBQ sauce. It's awesome!!

Lighter ones are mixed with Defcon 1 - EXTREME HEAT wing sauce. I love Defcon sauces, especially their horseradishes. It tastes really great, but am I alone when I think "Where's the heat?" My tolerance isn't that high, but I would almost classify it as just a "Medium" - I think SalsaLady's BBQ sauce seems hotter to me. Maybe it's just me?

Looks great Marcie. That salsalady bbq is one of the best products out there.

I'm with paul on the no cheese thing, but I'll bet those were awesome without it.
No silly bands, tho. Hmmm. How do you know that beer's yours?

After several hours on low temp in oven, the ribs finished off on the grill.

A few ribs had Jolokia 10 rub on by CaJohn's. The other ribs had HBD's Meridian Grilling Sauce on. (Of course there was a whole slab of ribs that were plain for the kiddos).

Added some sour cream greenbeans and a roll and we all were eating ;)

Won't ever be buying that Samuel Adams Blackberry. Nasty - but had to drink. Thought it would be good with pork...wrongo.

Mc. Happy Easter back at ya!!! Damn that looks like a fine meal.
I voted against the blackberry witbier in the sam adams challenge in Boston. It was up against a coffee stout that was superior. I lost, and so did America.

JT, you gotta mark your beers, even when you're home alone. It's just best practice.

Wasn't much of a recipe. Just mashed the yolks, added a little Miracle Whip, a little mustard, and a couple tsps of Uncle Jesters Select Reserve. Oh, and prettied them up with some paprika. :)

I think it's more the texture than the ingredients(besides, less is more). The yolks look like they've been JUST cooked....kinda like a 3 minute egg....instead of boiling on the stovetop for 6 hours.

Good on'ya!

Hey y'all. Yesterday mrs. blues dragged me down to Plano to other hippy joint and a favorite of mine, Central Market. I got some red anaheims and some oregon bay shrimp which are super sweet! Reckoned I'd stuff the big red's with a shrimp/rice/queso mix I've used since the days of the caveman.

Just look at these honkers!!

Here's teh shrimp and queso sans rice. Bay shrimp's, garlic, onion, 'peno, cream, 4 cheese mexican mix, smoked spanish paprika.

A moment of silence please....

A little sour cream/hab sauce topped this baby but was so good it didn't need it. Embarrassed to say I ate all 4 halves. Okay I'm not. This stuff was Killermanjaro!!

Sorry, it's a closely guarded family secret handed down since the time of cavemen. I'll give you a hint though. The secret is in the marinade...
Really though, I just want to know one thing: did you DRINK the marinade afterwards????

....aaaaaand awayyyy we GO! BONUS ALERT!!!!!!!This is a jar that HSL sent me. It's thick.....sweet (like honey).....and has a pretty good BITE!!! :cool: You'll have to ask her what it is....but I call it;

Good with stir-fry. last set coming up....

HSL LOVE.........WOOT WOOT!!!!

Pauly, I think that jar is the sugar syrup off of the candied habaneros I made last fall. I stuffed the jars of candied habs full of the habs and had that wonderful simple syrup left over and knew it would be good for something. I though maybe in a mixed drink, but in the Asian? That was an AWESOME idea! And that meal?!? OMG! That's it, I'm quitting the Asian TD. Not even gonna enter.

Thanks, Marcie! I'm glad you like it. Those are some great looking poppers. I've never been much for poppers, but those without the cheese look really good.

And then TB drops the mega-popper on the plate! WOW! rice and shrimps and just a little cheese...never seen a single popper be a meal in itself.

The one that really got me was McHottie's shrimp and s'ghetti......luv on a plate, baby!

home-made pizza, coming up tonight!
