I do all my prep inside. I am needing space to set things down, a place for condiments, rubs etc and a place to set my beer when I am doing all that. I would love to turn my whole back yard into a concrete and stone jungle, but that isn't in the budget.
 
True dat, but I guess I've gotten more into a "separate is better" type of mindset where these types of things are concerned. You may recall how many people jumped on the combo TV / Video player bandwagon when that kind of thing first came out? Either the TV part or the video player died, then they'd moan and groan about having to replace both parts instead of just one. This isn't the same situation, but I would tend to have my work space separate from (though next to) the grill. However, given the particulars here, a combo station would be a cool thing.
 
That's funny G. We haven't officially named it. So far all we've come up with (FIL as a matter of fact), is "Cookshack".
It has a roof, and will have it's own deck with wrap around benches. I had got started on it the summer of 2014 and had a glorious week off to make some good progress but that very week, the Carlton Complex fire blew up. No power, lots of smoke and plenty of terror.

Anyway, MARK MY WORDS!!!!!

I'm diggin "casbah"... somethin or other btw.
 
Boss will play something other than hooky after JayT gets his BGE. Once. Then he'll keep playing hooky until he gets a new kitchen. Then we can all just sit back and watch the shenanigans. I'll be happy to share some habanero popcorn with y'all - - - it will be entertaining!
