I am from the Rogue Valley, in southern Oregon.  Here's the Rogue River in Winter.

It's only 12/15, but maybe you guys have your lists made up already.  Not me, yet.  All I know for sure this season is, no chinenses, and less of everything else.  Might go heavier on the New Mex varieties.

Glad to see 'yall doing this glog again this season. I found it quite interesting last year.

Good luck on your grow from way South Tejas!
Hey, Scott.  I trust you're all healed up?  I'm recovering from a broken arm that happened two weeks ago.  I have a couple of 55-gal drums I'm making into smokers, but they're on hold now.  4-8 weeks recovery.  Short list of pepper plants this season, mostly NuMex.  Glad you're back at it.  I'll find your glog.

You know, I really don't know.  I'm kind'a perplexed.  I prepped the seeds by soaking them overnight in water, and then promptly forgot about them and planted them the next day.  So they were in water for almost 2 days.  That might be too long.  I'm prepping/germinating my cayenne and jalapeno seeds in paper towels.  Hopefully that works better.
Did any of your rocotos germinate?  I got nothin'.

Update: I bought a bigger tray and added an overflow feature so I can pump water in the tray and circulate for a few minutes without having to worrying about it flooding over. I had to top the Datils and Atomic Starfish on the left as they were getting really tall.

yes. two manzanos and one rocoto are doing great. Of the two rocotos I had last year, I got zero pods and I only got like 6 pods on the manzano. Fickle plants...I hear they are really late bloomers maybe too late for our climate. It sounds like you have bad seeds or something. I can send you a few if you're interested.

Thanks.  Too late for this season.  I'll roll with what I have.

Oh yeah!

I'm working my butt off rehabing to get back to 100%, goal is to make the 20 year olds wish they could keep up :liar: Well I can try ;)

Sorry to hear about a broken arm, that just has to be no fun.

Wishing you the best!

Looks good from my house!

Tomatoes tick me off, I can plant them a full 30 days later than the peppers and they still outgrow them.

So how did you break that arm? I hope it's healed or healing well!

I broke it 5 weeks ago today.  I'll probably still be in a sling for another ~2 weeks, I don't know.  I broke the humerus, right below the shoulder.  Out with the weed blower on a flight of wooden stairs that go down to the river deck.  The leaves had been there quite awhile, so they were slimy underneath.  I was half way down the staircase when my feet went straight out from under me.  I was, surprisingly, able to grab the handrail on the way down with my left hand, clunking the side of my forehead on it as I went down.  I held on to the blower until after I went down!  Luckily, I didn't do any rolling down the rest of the stairway-just went straight down in a heap.  Ended up passing out, briefly, after my wife came out to see why I was calling her.  Doc said I passed out from the trauma/pain, not from bonking my head.  No concussion.  So, I got my first broken bone, ambulance ride, and over night stay in the hospital at the age of 58!  I was getting everything together to build a UDS, but, that's on hold.

I only liked it cuz I like you...not what happened. Glad it wasn't worse because it very well could have been. Heal fast my friend!

I was only knocked out once. I was weed eating in '85, jumping back and forth over a 4' chain link fence so I could clean up both sides. Just when I had both hands on the top rail, and threw my body over the top rail buckled and I landed on my neck and shoulder. I trashed my AC joint, sounded like a baseball bat breaking. I got up and came back in the house, LB had the keys in her hand saying lets go. I was like huh? She said "you just laid there for several minutes before you got up, you're going to the hospital". I only remember the cracking sound. And can't forget the injury now as everyday I still feel it.

Yeah, I'm not sure trying to grab that rail was a good idea. Now, I'm skittish about doing things like going up on the roof. Oh well. I guess we both better be more careful. And yeah, it could have been a lot worse. Take care.

I just like to say "we don't bounce as well as we used too" ;)

As per the roof:

I have a metal roof and replaced 14 16' pieces this winter, hurt me for 3 days. Just have to keep moving and keep in shape and do what we want to do...and I'm the same age as you..it's getting harder. But I'm a stubborn son of a gun. Never give up!

Heal well!

I'm going with rabbit manure this season.
I might throw in some feather meal, and/or blood meal to give the tomatoes a nitrogen boost. If I wasn't so lazy, I'd put up shade screen. Peppers got sunburned last season.

Hardening off, 4/17.  Earliest date, yet.

A few chiles poblanos, and jalapenos from the local Grange Co-Op.  Heirloom tomato plants.
