Lookin' Guuuuuuudddd mang

Chico is good people but you gotta' keep an eye on him.

Too much brewsky and he passes out on your couch and turns into a peebody.

Don't know if this dish will grab ya, but the crazy "Medallion" looking creatures in the pan have more legs than a 1960's hippy marching band from Berkeley College.

In the fry pan are a few cloves of Garlic thinly sliced with some Shallots and Olive Oil. The Baby Octupus was dusted with a bit of Corn Starch and some dried Calabria Peppers. The mix was tossed around until the the Octi and Garlic showed color.

Two cans of squished San Marzanos along with 1 cup of dry White Wine, Dryed Basil, Crushed Rosemary, Anise, Thyme additional slivered Garlic and just because I had it in front of me and it will pick up the flav in the long duration....2 shots of Maker's Mark.......and a third for me....ha
Simmer on low with the lid ajar for 1.5 hrs.

Dish plated with some Ziti, Steamed Asparagus and crusty Ciabatta.

I wish I could grow more arms to eat that Pic - I would be shovelin' that down faster than the coal shoveller on Casey Jones' train

Sadly, octopus is one of the rare and few seafoods I don't eat.

They look like the alien gettin' jiggy with the engineer at the end of that PROMETHEUS flick.

Onliest a couple times have I had it where it was tender and didn't remind me of chewing on a bicycle inner tube.

But gimme' a big bowl of that tomato sauce, no ziti.

I can make a meal out of tomato sauce with heaps of garlic.

I love eating octopus of all sizes! I have had it prepared many ways and one of the strangest was the very small ones Asian BBQ in a sushi spot.

That dish looks fantastic. I'd throw the pee stinker away, kind of fallen out of love for it currently.

Took me a sec, but I got it as soon as I saw the pic again. We eat a lot of it in my house. Need to pick up more at Kroger actually.

No problem......".Bicycle inner tube"...............ahahahaha..........send that meal back and fire the cook !
When done correct  the tentacles should be fork tender....no matter what size, although my favorite is marinaded in a Balsamic Vinegarette, heavy on the Italian Herbs and seared quickly over a smokey wood burning grill. I have had people ask me to extra char the darn stuff which turns the finger food into a knife and fork app.

You're right Chris , from squid size to the large Octi it can be prepared many different ways....but usually no in between cooking methods, either quickly or low and slow. The Asian BBQ sounds interesting.........what type of sauce  with the sushi ?

PIC WON posts an epic seafood dish in TB's Pescetarian, and TB throws the seafood and the pasta on the ground... and saves the sauce.

TB, you're a funny guy... even in your health thread you're throwing out the good stuff.

Pic1, it was a spicy Asian style BBQ sauce, not sure what it consisted of but it was in a sushi spot. The sushi chef passed me a small bowl for free based off all the crazy types of sushi I was ordering.

mrs. blues (of all people) turned me on two favorite sauces for sushi.

#1 and mrs. blues favorite ~ Kobayacki also know as eel sauce or unagi sauce. Thicker than soy, and unbelievable umami factor.

#2 both of our second choices ~ sriracha style chile mayo. There's a great sushi joint in Frisco, Edoko, that does a crab roll, The Speechless. They liberally splooge the chile mayo on the face up cut rolls that they pile high with even more crab. We always get a side of eel sauce to go with it. YOU WILL SEE GOD!

I also dig on the Paradise roll and both the Tango Roll, and Fire roll. They also have the best sea salted edamame.

The thang is, the eel sauce reminds me of a super rich yakitori style bbq sauce and I could see it used in that way. Its pretty dadgum awesome sheeit.

Never really liked them before until eating them at the sushi joint mentioned.

When I was a kid in '69, pops was in The Nam but we lived by grandma's house that had 100 acres in soy beans.

We'd spend hours chasing and looking for woodchucks and picking the beans.

Why pick the beans? I dunno' they were hard as hell and tasted like nothing.

I reckon I should get a pass on the edamame anyhow since I do use soy sauce from time to time.

And its more an Asian 'thang than a hippy 'thang anyway.

Plah!

Do they make a soyrizo roll?

:)

Yeah you have to pick them immature before they harden. And they are damn good. Better'n popcorn.
