contest Throwdown Smacktalk

I have been giving this a little thought and I have come up with the winning entry whilst on the loo. Now I just have to wait for the appropriated time, make said burger, and collect crown. Now I will kick back and drink until then.

Unless I am baking, I never use recipe's, I just start throwing stuff around....and usually at the last minute.....and usually half way in the bag.

Thems fighting words JayT,

Thanks Geeme but I am going to do it alone so nobody else can take the credit LOL. I am pretty sure what meat just not sure what goes with it (heat wise). My bottle of afterburner has arrived so I will pick it up from the post office and try it out this weekend. Can't wait to try it.

Wish the weather was warm so I could get practicing on the BBQ, \

Hey JayT & Texas B I always see some powder stuff you put on your meat, what is that and does it have flavour or just heat?

I use several powders. Trinidad Scorpion, Bhut Jolokia, sometimes my own pequin powder. I also you bbq type rubs that generally have brown sugar, granulated garlic, paprika, sea salt and whatever flavor of the week chile powder. The pequin powder has good color, flavor and a little heat. The super hot powders are just that but also have fair color and some flavor.

Superhots have some flavor? TBBBBBBBBB nooooooo build your tolerance ;). Plenty of flavor there! Especially 7-pot man I love that flavor.

No THP. I was referring to the dried powder. Sure they have some flavor but I eat the stuff more for the burn. I do have some 7-pot powder, just no freshies....

No prob, Joey dude. Keep in mind I would never give you a recipe, just help witih a process, because you're right, it has to be your own recipe. But also keep in mind God didn't put us on this planet alone - if you get stuck, don't be afraid to ask for a little input. After all, that's why he created forums - like this one! :) Good people, good smack, good food!

Okay - slightly off-subject celebration here - my first jalapeno finally started to ripen today - :woohoo:
Only slightly off-subject, 'cause I plan on using them in September! What a stubborn little plant it's been... guess it takes after me, after all.

Congratulations on the 'peno and using it the t-down. I struggled with them a couple years ago. My pequins are taking a beating but they are resilient. Go hot or go home ya'll!

Thanks, TB! I've already whipped up something mighty fine to include (new batch, of course) in the throwdown with the cayennes. I have to admit I haven't managed to eat a whole one raw in one sitting yet, but have that as a personal goal. (Does 10+ inches of raw cayenne for one person in one sitting seem sane or excessive? Hadn't really thought of that before just now...)

Not going to get too far off-topic here but I will answer the newbies question. First question about the powders is OK, 2nd question asking about the process of drying...NOT ON TOPIC!

there are several threads in the "the test kitchen". Here are a couple-

And because the 2nd question is not related to the throwdown, you have forced me to bring out The Corrector earlier than I thought it would be needed.

Whoa whoa whoa slow down cowgirl, I have Naga's sent to me by neil at the THSC and was thinking of creating a powder for my dish but wanted to know morwe about it.

But thanks for the spanking "Please Ma'am may I have another, I have been a really bad boy"

You are forgiven, and, No, you may not have another....right now....
I understand your Newbie-ness and will treat you gently.

The threads posted above should answer your questions. And it's all good, young one~

JoeyK - where's April??? Shouldn't she be posting on this thread, backin' up her "I'm a better cook than Joey" claim??? No fair smackin' from afar! (Besides, we could use another newbie to round out our team :) ) The family that throws together should be smackin' together!

She is mega busy at work at the mo. Don't worry I am sure she will put up a dish too. She doesn't have access to forums at her work. She is the better cook actually she is a cooking addict.
