contest Throwdown Smacktalk

She is mega busy at work at the mo. Don't worry I am sure she will put up a dish too. She doesn't have access to forums at her work. She is the better cook actually she is a cooking addict.

 Cool beans! Looking forward to hearing from her.

Don't think she is keen on the burger idea but she will give you all a run for your money on any non fast food style food.

Forgive my newbieness. Am I to understand Sept Throwdown will be beef-less burgers? Which means anything but beef can be used. So I could use venison, chicken, "soy" etc.?

Sounds like fun.

Any particular place I need to start to know the rules etc.? Thanks.

Guillaume

Where's The Beef? Throwdown

Burgers will have to be ground meat, seafood, or veggie shaped into a patty and cooked, any way. A chicken breast is not a burger. Ground chicken shaped into a patty is a chicken burger. Ground veggies bound with egg is a veggie burger.

A burger is also not a wrap. There must be two separate forms of bread on either side. There is plenty of room for creativity here. Think of the classic beef burger on a bun and now think of how you would recreate it with different meats and breads, while keeping the classic look (as far as assembly).

Toppings and sides can be whatever you want.

These are not the official rules, but now you know the basics.

Hot Stuff - above are some of the prelims. THP will post the official rules shortly before the throwdown begins.

Thanks. Has me thinking now. I'm so going to blow you all away! Waaahahahahwhahahahwhaah! (evil laugh)

Just think about all that I can bring together here. I'm French(Cajun/Creole), Spanish, Italian, German, Irish, Polish and I eat at Cajun/Creole, Italian, Thai, Korean, Lebanese, Greek, Indian, etc.

Time to put it all together into a hamburger. Start drooling.

Guillaume

Mmm - Cajun/Creole. Can't find too much of it that's good here in NEO. Looking forward to see what you create - BRING IT!

Bloody newbs coming here thinking their poop don't stink at they gonna win LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL  Welcome Hot Stuff

As far as throwdowns are concerned, anyone who hasn't participated in one on this site before is a newb (or noob, or nube, whatever!) Embrace your inner newb-ness (heck, we are!), and let's show the vets just what they've been missing! :hell:

PS - JoeyK is a newb, too - just ultra-enthusiastic!

At least Joey knows how to suck up to those who have the power to bestow the crown~ ;)

I was being sarcastic he joined a day before me  .

Humour is hard to pull off when you can't see facial expressions.

My ostrich meat arrives tomorrow. Min order was 5 lbs, so I'll be giving it a first try this weekend. I am amused by the people I tell that I'm going to use ostrich meat - they usually respond "but.... it's ostrich!" I say "yes, it's domesticated and raised on farms for meat production, just like chickens and cows; think of it as a big chicken." They look at me with bewilderment, and say "but... it's ostrich!" I respond "yes, but while it's not historically been a staple of the U.S., it is considered a staple in other countries. It's just a different animal here." And they again look at me and say "but... it's ostrich!" To which I respond "and I'll be happy to share some with you!" At that point they usually get a shocked look on their face, and mutter something about hell being cold before that happens.... after which they decide to change the subject.

Anyone in the NEO area who wants to try some, just let me know - I'm happy to share some with you!

Sucking up is the domain of those who don't know their way around a kitchen. Power trips are the domain of those who are insecure.
A little edu-macation will help Joey with the first. Gettin' thrown down by a newb will help you with the second!

LOL geeme!!!!!!!!!

You're truly getting into the spirit of things. That will not spare you from The Corrector in the throwdown (or before), but it's good to see the game...(literally)...on!

a little cross posting here-
but geeme-
history speaks for itself......do you really wanna smack-talk those who have gone before? and those who are willing to give you a vote if your td entry is deserving of a vote? Those who are telling the noob to make sure they get the coins in the original post....those who tell the noob how to post their pics and to get the camera focused on the food with the flash......

well, never mind....we'll just let the veterans post all the good stuff and let you noobs wallow in fuzzy-ness.....

unless you wanna show a little R E S P E C T !! ! ! !
