Trippas Organic story of 2012/2013....things could be worse ...

So far my season has gone like this ... goood ... average ... great ... bad .... things are on the up ... and today .... pretty f&^%king annoyed and frustrated ....so many pests ... and the plants are looking much worse then this time last season (when I had no pests to speak of). I had aphids early on during winter ... they were easy to clear off and didn't bother me too much ...

but I have since been having major issues with thrips and broadmites?? (some sort of mite anyway) tiny little buggers which are about the size of a spec of flour (smaller then two spotted or spider mites). So My plants lurch from looking good to looking really terrible and then they bounce back for a while only to be hammered all over again.

Anyway through all of this I am getting some pods to eat so that is a bonus I suppose.

My grow list is as follows

7 pod/pot "Primo" (Junglerain)
Cili Goronong (Junglerain)
Jalapeno "HTM" (Sourced myself)
Prik Luang (Junglerain)
Fatalii (Pepperlover)
Trinidad Seasoning (Pepperlover)
Kerinting (Pepperlover)
Kerinting (Accidental Hybrid Unknown??) (Pepperlover)
2 x Mystery Superhots (1 maybe Trnindad Scorpion "Sunrise"? From Jungle Rain)
Chocolate Bhut (Bonchi)(THSC)
Yellow 7 pot/pod (THSC)
Super Chilli (THSC)
Explosive Ember (THSC)
Trinidad Scorpion Morouga Blend (Junglerain)
Scotch Bonnet TFM (Bonchi)(Junglerain)
Pimenta De Neyde (Soon to be Bonchi)(Junglerain)
Bhut Jolokia 'Assam' (Junglerain)
Bahamian Goat Pepper (Junglerain)
Habanero Chocolate (Bonchi)(Junglerain)
NTR's (THSC)
Douglah 'Alphanerdz strain' (THSC)
Wild Brazil (Pepperlover)
Birdseye HTM (Sourced myself)
Serrano (THSC)
7 Pot (Large) (Pepperlover)
Naga Morich (Pepperlover)
Bonda Ma Jacques (Original seed from THSC but this seed from saved pods from last season)

All of them are strictly organically grown in soil in containers in the limited space of my apartment balcony ...

I am not much of a wordsmith so I usually like to post plenty of pictures of pods (if I have any in the coming months!!) so come and enjoy/share the frustrations of growing in the most pest ridden area in the world :D ... I will post a few photos I shot today later this evening ...

Also thought I would link to my old glog as well just for posterity and self indulgence :) ;) :D

Well, hope you can stay dry when Oswald runs through. The pod shots look great. Nice harvest...quality over quantity. How many can you really eat, anyway? :)

Did you ever get a "normal" phenotype TSMB off of that plant you are saying might be a 7 Pot? I ask because I have a Jamaican Yellow Mushroom that the first three pods were picture perfect, then when it loaded up a couple of months later the pod shape is all over the place, with not a single one looking "textbook."

Your climate looks a lot like mine, except for the rainfall and the winter lows. Our lows are a bit lower, but the rest of the temps are quite similar.

And I had to Google "FTFY," Gassy...lol.

Thanks for the update!

Thanks doc!!

Yeah I can't eat them all but I freeze my surplus and make jams and sauces and use the for cooking from frozen ... also give a few away fresh ... nothing goes to waste here ;) :D

Well its a long story with that "TSMB possibly not" plant. I grew it expecting it to be a butch t (might have been a rogue seed as it was from a very reputable source and one who I have never seen anything but the best from ) and it turned out looking very similar to what i thought a TSMB looked like in the initial pods (but in hindsight looks nothing like them) quite flat and blocky ... now it would seem to look more like a true 7 pot/pod but maybe its a hybrid?? Ripens similar to a TSMB from the top down in a definite banding pattern and has some definitive "brain" type ripples on its surface.

Could be anything. Freaking hot is all I know and quite large pods.

Awesome plants!!!! That bumpy green spot is super cool too.
Cheers for stopping in MWM!! Yeah it is cool ... and weird it developed early in the pod development I just thought it was an extra bumpy part of the pod but then it started ripening and that happened ... must be some explanation for it ... I just don't know what it is?? Maybe it has thicker flesh there which has slowed the ripening down compared with the rest of the pod?? Not sure.

Yea baby.....................loving the photog

Thanks Greg!! Today I didn't feel too much inspiration while taking my shots so was happy enough with how they turned out in the end.

Sorry :D ;) just had that movie in my thoughts ...I just got through reading an article stating that they are thinking of making a sequel to twins called 'triplets' starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny again ... I sure hope they don't

Thanks WG!! They taste similar to bhut jolokia but less fruity and more acidic if that makes sense?? I have plenty of seeds from last season ... i wonder if they would grow true again?? Thanks for the words of encouragement!!

Yeah those are some nice harvest photos. You're getting quality pods. :)

Thank you for the taste description, funny the more varieties I try the more I enjoy my favorites that I grow. Hopefully I’ll enjoy some of the new varieties I've added :)

Yeah that's the trouble. The more I try the more I like and the more I want to overwinter and keep. But that leaves me in a dilemma as to which new ones I want to start and what I have room for. For next season I think I will start afresh and not overwinter anything. I say that now but ... when it comes time I bet I end up renigging on the idea :D

Why have I not been to sleep yet?? Stayed awake all night watching a game of cricket that it looks like we will lose ... ahh well time to get up off the couch and suffer for my foolishness

Shiite ... lost on the last ball of the match .... 8 hours of game and it came down to the wire ... good game!!
