tsurrie's 2020 glog

So I decided to soak seeds this time, finally, and I hope it will increase the germination rate, since last year rate was not so good anymore.
Hope it helps just a bit....

We are just about in the same place here,
although not as cold. The dampness here
causes lots of pod splitting and failure to
reach 100% ripeness.

Can't wait to see the last harvest results.
Splitting of pods and some got rotten in about two days after harvest, that's what dampness is causing here.
I need to dry and freeze some (for later cooking), but if I'll find the time I'll cook a sauce in these coming days.

As promised, a picture of yeasterday's harvest.

Nice pods in those trays, Uros. You have
some good-sized fruit in there!

I notice the trays are solid. How does the
air circulate through them? Would it be
an imposition if I asked for a picture of
your dryer set-up?

Thank you Paul.
Some are big yes, but now with the lower temperatures the overall size of pods is smaller too.
I'm waiting for the rest to ripen so I can call it an end of the season.

The second wave of covid is happening, if we stay healthy we'll have plenty of time to prepare the garden for the winter, but not if we'll have to help the kids attend school online again.
Weird times. Can't expect a 8 and 10-year old will do what he has too to daily for school if you're not helping and/or motivating him. And there is also a big concern about everybody's jobs if this lasts long.
In worst scenario the economical after effects of these pandemics can make a chain reaction of failing businesses... hoping for the best.

It's an entry level fruit dryer.
Trays are solid and deep, they're supposed to not mix the aroma too much, if you're drying mixed food, but that's just 'bs' if you ask me.
The fan is blowing the air down the center and it goes into each tray individually and exits the tray on the outside, where you can see the exit lines on the top of each tray.
The process would take a lot less time if trays were not solid so the air could blow everywhere. I guess.
I'm keeping the heat on minimum so it dries them in about 5 days (I'm keeping it running for about 4 hours each evening when I'm close by).

These are troubling times, indeed, Uros.
I think the whole world is in the same boat,
and the effects will be felt for a long time.
We have the added pleasure of the ship of
our administration being adrift.

I agree Paul.
Also been observing your situation with administration from afar and I would not like to comment on it
I just really hope the one who gets elected keeps his cool and plays his role smart in any situation to come.

We have a 50-50 chance

The time of the last harvest has come.... it's been fun
The temperature has reached 0°C for a few nights now, so we're officially entering winter time.

Been picking those just before the official ending of Vuelta race... We're so proud of Roglic these days.

Also baked this one over the weekend.... still into sourdough

Today I was cutting open these to dehydrate them, they are in the dryer now...

That's about it. Maybe a sauce will follow soon, but we'll see. Still have a pile of fresh ones and a bag in the freezer. Lot's of options ...

Very nice, Uros, what a way to end the season.
Seems to me like one of your better seasons
due to the strong ending?

Enjoy tinkering with those pods during the off-season

Better seasons if I count the ratio of good plants and pods that grew on them... very nice.
A big thanks to you Paul - those pods are mainly from the plants that sprout from the seeds you sent.
So cheers

You are welcome, my friend. You know you
should always ask if you see something in
my grow you would like to try to grow out.
I am glad you are enjoying the fruits of 'our'
labor!
