If it is mice? they like grain/cereals stuff they would find in the wild, put a weetbix down or cornflake, or sweetcorn.

Not many peanut butter plants growing in the wild. :P

Probably about as many peanut butter plants as there are cornflake trees.

In my experience, mice don't stick to a naturalist diet =]
 
If you have mice/rats they WILL step on that trap. Even if they get on little foot on there they are toast. That one is just sitting by the pole? Put them all along baseboards. Mice or rats RARELY travel across open ground. Almost always, always, always travel along a perimeter (baseboards like you have on the one side).

I speak from glue trapping experience and the company I work for now does pest management and they use glue traps to catch these little buggers!

Okay, I predict today/tonight's d-day for that mouse!!!! I saw your set up, and short of acrobatics, I can't see how he could avoid getting caught!

I feel so bad for you and your plants! Will you start fresh, or just enjoy the heck out of what survived "The Attack of the Killer Rodent"?

See, and I'd bet a dollar on tomato or tobacco hornworms...

Ugly caterpillars they are...

either way, you can slice a straw, and put it around the stem... if its the mouse, it might not help, if its the caterpillars, or cutworms, they will move on.

They are active in the evening, or when it rains... a thorough soaking might make them come out of the soil (but I've seen them continue to hide).

OH you actually saw the mouse...

In that case, you might still try straws...

I've had a similiar problem. I put slug pellets down and in the morning there they were, several dead slugs per pot, they can eat a whole small plant in one night easily. The slugs were living in the pots burying themselves in the soil during the day and coming out at night. Its worth a try and if that doesn't work get a gun. good luck :cool:
 
SLUGS???????? Yikes! I'd rather have mice!!!!!

I wonder if slugs could hide in red solo cups....that would be soooooo nasty!

But you're getting close Dude...I can feel it! Good Luck!!!! (I really hope it's a mouse and not slugs....) :)
