What's up with the weather?

-17° F This morning. Since I've lived here, the coldest I've seen was -22°. I was kind of hoping to beat that, this cold snap but, I don't think we'll get there this year. Nowhere near the Washington state coldest reord of -49°.

It seems like I remember something about it snowing in the Sahara like, every 37 years or something? Probably a PBS show or something, I do remember the pics and video of it were extraordinary!

Yeah stettoman, just stay in and stay warm. Our trees were popping once the sun hit them. -6° right now so our high might get to 10° above. One more cold night for us then it starts to warm up. Low 20's predicted for the weekend. Perfect!

Dragonsfire, those camels are like, "WTF is this shit!?!?!"

Watched Britain's Wildest Weather Documentary, great, recommend watching it. Got mine from BitTorrent.

Got to -20 (f) right here this morning, not even close to coldest. Supposed to be around 5 degrees colder tomorrow.

Cold at night is one thing, I can sleep through it. But it's not going to get above -6 today, that hurts...
NOT. Weather guessers guessed wrong. It only got down to -19 this morning.

Computer model reading has a lo-o-o-ong way to go!

Made potato soup yet? Want me to get you a good, authentic chicken and sausage gumbo recipe?
Yup, you absolutely do that. Soup is about the only way my family will let me have my precious spudtatoes anymore.

The potatoes being saved for for the blue cheese, do that tomorrow, today did a simple rice, mushroom carrot soup with Arbol chilies and chicken stock.

I don't know about stettoman, but I'd kill for a new authentic gumbo recipe to try. I've been making Prudhommes recipes for years and want to branch out. I have my own okra and everything!
It's currently 0F out right now, so I think that counts as soup weather.

It's cold and wet out there this morning, too cold for me. It's 39° and we're supposed to drop to 25° tonight and 26° tomorrow night then start climbing back up to the 70's by Tuesday.

Hydrid, if you want to try some Cajun recipes I have a link for you. It's the local electric company that
puts out a small magazine every few months with real Cajun recipes. It has a few gumbo recipes in the Nov/Dec issue.
It's not exactly like I would cook it but close enough. Maybe Phil has a recipe written down he can give when he sees this.

I don't miss the winters in Eastern WA one bit....The lowest we had was -33 back in the mid 90's and we got 87" of snow over a two month period.

Several homes and buildings were collapsing from the weight of the snow throughout the state and into Idaho that yr....you can have it

Shoveling 5' of snow off your roof was interesting I will say that.
