Where Do You Work?

Wine-Wine-wine...

OOPS!  meant to say-

whine-whine-whine.....

hope you feel better soon LDHS.   It is different when you can't just all a boss and whine out for the day.  And working out at markets is rough when the weather turns.

Yep - started in October last year, so I'm pretty acclimated. It was 38 this AM setting up, but turned into a really nice sunny day by 10:00 AM or so.

CA has moderate winters, but there are some bad weeks here & there. Nothing like when I lived in Holland or Seattle though. We'd have weeks of nonstop bad weather. No way could I do year-round FMs there.

All market vendors in the west coast climates deserve major props!

don't want to get all side-tracked from the original post-

Back on topic= who's next?

I'm an Applications Developer and Microsoft Office Guru for the State of Florida. I develop specialized tools and databases for our Service Center personnel and then on the back side I do some Program Management work defining and gathering metrics from them on the different projects. I prefer coding to the program management work but usually I spend more time working with metric and dealing with SAP heat ticket issues.

Yes, I'm a Geek and Proud of it :)

I'll tell ya what, working in SAP as a developer can get pretty strange at times. We were working on a new report for the CRM module and it hit on a glitch that messed with a older portion of SAP's code. When we pulled it up it was all in German. Was I ever glad for the 3 years I lived there, I was able to translate some of it then I had to go t an online translator. Fun day at work that was. I haven't actually written a line a ABAP/4 in about 6 years now.

I shoot people. Snap Snap, not Bang Bang.

I mostly do portraits and head shots, I used to work with bands but got sick of it. I've done some product shots, parties and events, and concept shoots. I have done a few video projects, like promos/teasers and worked onset for a couple films in the past.
I refuse to sell my soul to wedding photography just to make a buck, so since I'm not busy enough to support myself and my needy canines on what I make with photography, I also have a few other artsy-ish jobs.
I am a legal video specialist.  Sounds cooler than it is.  I pretty much mic up lawyers and witnesses and video depositions, making sure that the audio is mixed and the video shows the witnesses face clearly for a jury.  Its used in cases with high profile witnesses, or to try and catch someone in a lie. I work for about an hour setting everything up and if the witness isn't a squirmer, and no one has a cough, then I log in to THP chat on my phone and wait for someone to come amuse me.
I also have been doing roofing estimates since I was about 17/18 and on occasion I get some work there.
Most recently a friend and I have launched a relational marketing firm that offers creative services.  Our intent is to be able to provide companies with everything they need for their marketing campaigns without having to outsource any of the work to design firms or a data miner.  As you may have guessed, I do all the creative services, branding, print layouts, illustration, email blasts, and I'm even trying my hand at motion graphics and animation in the upcoming weeks.

I work a weekend shift at Blount Canada making various brands of chainsaw bars (Oregon, Carlton, Husqvarna and more).  3 twelve hour shifts, Sat-Sun-Mon then its home with kids for the rest of the week.  Not the most exciting job but gives me time to spend with the kids (2 and 5yrs) and prevents me from paying for daycare which is crazy expensive.

Chandler, AZ... part of Phoenix metro... know it well. Especially their building department. Designed a bunch of buildings for a Dr. Hernandez in 2006 that, as far as I know, were never built because the economy tanked. I wanna say 154th street... Halsted was the name of one of the projects.

I worked in security once again at the company that made the machines that Intel and 95% of the world used for making silicon wafers...Applied Materials. Cool place.

I work for an environmental consulting company in Cape Town.  I perform botanical/ecological assessments for development applications.  I also compile management plans and method statements for mitigating impacts during construction and operational phases - particularly for large linear engineering projects (transmission lines as well as generation facilities - mostly wind turbines).  I get to explore areas that most botanists have never set foot in and just this year alone I have discovered six previously unknown plant species.  I am also working on my MSc Botany - revising Pelargonium section Hoarea - I bit off more than I can chew right now!

Hobo ~ a person that moves around a lot looking for work.

Tramp ~ a person that moves around a lot but isn't looking for work.

Bum ~ a person that doesn't move and isn't looking for work.

I've been all 3.
