Wild in Las Vegas 2014 (Hardening off and flowers!!)

So now it's time to make another attempt and hope for a better year.

I didn't want to make a glog this year... but I see many already started. That motivates me to make a glog.

2013 was a year for learning and making mistakes and mostly experiments. Needless to say I found and learned a lot and I know this year is gonna rock!

So let's get started with some pics, and I'll update with th list later today and I'll be visiting glogs in a short while ;) and here's to 2014!!!

Thanks for stopping by

Bump! Looking great Walt!

Thanks Rom!
Everything is looking great Walt... How are the seeds i sent you doing? Any hooks going on

Nothing yet Portuge... I'm having a sh!ty luck with them rapid rooters, many seeds had mold and some turned black. I believe it's my fault, I've never tried them before, but I guess the classic way is best for me. I didn't like the jiffys either...

I haven't given up yet tho. I've had very very good success sprouting in the aerogarden so yours went in along with Cardenasii ;).

Beatiful pics and plants! Felicitaciones amigo!

Gracias Coki!! Hay viene otra actualizacion! ;)

(Thanks Coki!! New update coming in! ;) )

*****************************

Ok here's some more. Sorry I can't keep up.

They're all doing fine and I a shot of the CGN 19198 buds.

Woah!! Did I just do this? You bet I did! Hope this one pops and it's gonna be grown strictly indoors to make sure I get pods :D. Thanks to a very kind soul I'm able to give this one a shot. Capsicum Cardenasii.

CGN 19198 forming first buds at 2 1/2 months. Very wild that there ;).

And one more Eximium, I now have 5 Eximium seedlings/plants, and I'm waiting for the 6th one to pop. Still no luck with the CGN 21502...

Since I'm a big Tepin fan I had to add a few more ;).

This one has nice long. Cotyledons about an inch long.

I like the way this one is growing, it's black, it's not too tall and pods should be like Tepin, definitely something I like.

Pubes are sloooowww... but they just look too good, they seem to have a fur coat not a few hairs. Lol.

Walt!

Congrats on the Lanceolatum!

Simply stunning photography! What are you using to take the pics? The detail is amazing.

Plants all look great, and the Texas Black AND the Rocotto, just all of them are kickin' it!

Keep doing what you're doing, cuz it's right!

Thanks Scott!! I think I got the soil mix right or ok at least. It seems to be working fine. First I do my mix and plant the youngsters in it and when they get bigger I do straight Fox Farms OF. Not cheap LOL, but hopefully I'll be getting some space soon to do my own compost and mix my own soil. I'm starting to get the feel for what I need. Experience, Experience, experience LOL.

That Texas black looks stunning, it's an annuum but it's not growing very tall. Looks more compact and it's branching out from the lower nodes. Looks like the LEDs penetrate well. I hope to get pods from it to send out to all the tejas brothers ;)

Hope you're having a great weekend.

-Walt

Dude...so jealous! Nice score with the Cardenasii! That's one furry damn Rocoto!

Thanks Shane! I hope everything goes well so I can share with all you wildheads :D.

Dude I've been looking for a tepin other than the normal red versions... A yellow tepin should be interesting to watch grow...

Lol! Let me know if you're still up to it. I only have last seed from the yellow tepin and seeds are good, I sowed 2 and they popped fast and they're healthy I will bet that last seed will germinate fine.
I also have that PI 593491 which is a tepin too, a insanely productive tepin according to Google. Same thing both sowed germinated as well. Lmk if you want and I can add the Texas black which it's supposed to be a black Tepin and those seeds were from Smokemaster.

-Walt

This year is going to be the year for tepins. Got several growing from seeds i took out of pods that Spicegeist sent me. Chiltepin Armac and Chiltepin Tarahumara, next season i will give that Texas black a try.....
Just checked the seeds that you had sent me and the Texas black is in there also...

Oh LOL, I always forget what I send for the most part. Usually I give something else besides what I offered. If you want to start them next year that's cool, I hope to get fresh seed from most of my plants, I have no idea how old are the ones that I have. Even if they don't produce I'll send you what I can ;).

-Walt

Sounds good to me, just transferred my wilds into 1 gallon pots earlier so grow baby grow... Picked up a 2 cubic bag of Super soil and mix it with 2 cups of perlite/vermiculite per 5gal bucket. Oh forgot about the bat guano that gets mixed in as well, first time trying it so we'll see how the plants like it.

Looks like you're all fired up :onfire:

Hope to see some pics. If you want to post them up here feel free to do so ;).

Small update.

Portuge!! I have some action on your seeds woohoo!

One CAP 1141 showed the tap root and I carefully placed it on a Aerogarden sponge and its germinating just fine :D.

Both cumari verdaidera that I sowed are germinating too, one will go in the Aerogarden and one in soil. It's odd that I had "problems" with the plugs and the seed turned black but I didn't give up on it. Here's a pic.

Even a galapagoense germinated and the seed also turned black. This one will also be in the Aerogarden. I had a nice one going in the Aerogarden but my one year old wanted to help me do the gardening LOL. This time it's golden for sure.

First open flower on the tepin x 7 pot, flower does produce pollen and now I hand pollinated hoping it will take. We'll see... don't mind the edema lol...

My CGN 19198 is pumping out buds like crazy! Can't wait to get some open flowers, and that calyx teeth look soooo sexy :D.

CAP 501 x Donne sali F1 still trucking along. It was losing some leaves until I gave it some compost tea... I want to see the pods already LOL. Who else has one of these? Charles?

Close up of CAP 1491.

I have more wilds germinating and I put down the last Cardenasii seeds... I hope I can get at least one to pop. That's what I'm mostly excited about. Hope y'all having a good weekend! :fireball:

Looking great Walt, Cap 501 x donne sali didnt sprout for me... Had only 3 seeds that Charles shared with me and not a single sprout :(
Glad to hear the seeds i sent are showing some life. Got my plants outside soaking in the sunshine...
I dont know what it was but two of the three Cumari verdadeira seedlings were looking great. Then they up and died on me, so baby the ones you got sprouted... Prodigal-son posted a pic on his glog this past season, by the look of the plant it is massive.. Acouple of these will make a nice hedge along a sidewalk.

Very sad to hear that, I will baby them. I love praetermissums, just because they're closely related to baccatums and just the way they grow. I haven't tasted any yet but I know they should be tasty. Charles said so too, so I'm really looking forward to them.

I did see the beast he grew last season and I also saw the pod and flower shot he took. Since then I wanted to grow them. I hope they do well so I can share the love back.

That CAP 501 x Donne sali is an awesome plant same with that one, everything this year has me more excited than the last :D. The one I did wanted to give a shot was the CAP 501 x Bhut... in the future I will ;).

-Walt

The flower on the chiltepin x 7 pot looks fantastic, looks more annuum to me... very exciting  .

Ok, the CAP 501 x Donne Sali is looking very CAP 501 to me at this point... I suppose we'll see with the flowers how crossed it really is...

Did I send you CAP 501 x Bhut seed?  I grew the F1 plant out and that was definitely a cross, so if you have seed of that one it'll be F2 and definitely not just a straight CAP 501, which by itself is an awesome plant I might add.

I currently have one Cap 501x Bhut growing, and you have Cap 501x Donne sali... So its a win win come harvest time for the both of us... Care packages are in the near future Walt so don't worry about that one...

One more thing...

About the CAP501 x Donne Sali... the one thing I can't tell from the pic is the level of glossiness.

My CAP 501 had distinctly and noticeably matte leaves, the Donne Sali was very glossy.  If the leaves on this are glossy, I'd lean towards it being a successful cross...

Yeah I was thinking the same and the anthers are dark black and seems to be producing pollen ok. Another thing is that the way the flower is more standing up than hanging like the typical chinense. Every flower I see open I will hand pollinate I want to see the pods on it already :D.

I know what you mean, I haven't seen much Donne sali pics, but my CAP 501 has very shiny leaves at least the new ones and the older leaves do have some shine to it and leaves are larger. I'll do a side by side pic so you know what I mean.
