Wild in Las Vegas 2014 (Hardening off and flowers!!)

So now it's time to make another attempt and hope for a better year.

I didn't want to make a glog this year... but I see many already started. That motivates me to make a glog.

2013 was a year for learning and making mistakes and mostly experiments. Needless to say I found and learned a lot and I know this year is gonna rock!

So let's get started with some pics, and I'll update with th list later today and I'll be visiting glogs in a short while ;) and here's to 2014!!!

Yeah I was thinking the same and the anthers are dark black and seems to be producing pollen ok. Another thing is that the way the flower is more standing up than hanging like the typical chinense. Every flower I see open I will hand pollinate I want to see the pods on it already :D.

haha, that's so cool... can't wait too...

First open flower on the tepin x 7 pot, flower does produce pollen and now I hand pollinated hoping it will take. We'll see... don't mind the edema lol...

Hey Charles here's a pic side by side. I suspect the soil isn't that good on the hybrid, the soil felt to compact. I just potted it up to the same soil mix the CAP 501 is growing in and it's more rich and more light. Hope it picks up nice and I sprinkled some Mycos on the roots which I didn't do before.
CAP 501: Left.
CAP 501 x Donne sali F1 : Right.

Hmm... I really can't tell

If you can, cool, otherwise might just have to wait for flowers...

I agree, that would be the best bet. This Chacoense has way bigger and nicer leaves than my other chacs. Most are just small. I also have a CGN 20510, CGN 20509, CAP 501, and can't remember what else. All do show some differeces.

I guess the best way to tell is to wait for flowers and fruit. More waiting....Lol.

Playing catch up.

Looking good Walt!

I had some edema early on. Bringing them outside and cutting back on watering helped.

have a great week!

Thanks Scott! I did cut back on the watering, and all new growth seems to be coming out nice. I'm starting to take a few outside ;).

Everything looks great Walt! I believe you are going to be up to your ears in wild pods in a few months

Thanks Rom! Let's hope I do Lol! Gotta share the love back

Update time, everything is running pretty smooth and things are starting to happen. Things worth posting tho Lol.

Tepin X 7 pot is going insane with the flowers. I gave it an organic bloom booster and seems like things are speeding up.

Flowers are big and pollinate easy.

Pod forming already ;).

That most anticipated moment when you just can't wait to see the development and flowers open. CGN 19198. Today is exactly 3 months since it sprouted and today we have flowers

A few more wilds and start of an experiment I been wanting to try. This Aerogarden works like a bubbler/DWC and I'm hoping they grow nice and once they hit a certain size I'll be transfering to soil.

Cumari Verdaidera (seed Portuge sent and from Prodigal_Son)

Malagueta from my good friend Coki.

Galapagoense from Charles "Spicegeist".

Cobindo from Judy "Pepperlover" I believe it's Cobincho or AKA C. Exile?

Thanks for stopping by

Very nice Walt!

The pic of the CGN 19198 flower is outstanding.

What a difference form last season, you really put it all together this season for sure!

Sweeeet this update rocks Walt, it's good to see your having luck with that Cumari Verdadeira....

Thanks Portuge! I actually have two ;). One was a victim of a helmet :liar: . But it's doing fine and putting out new leaves.

Now I'm really bummed about the CAP 1141... the seed I put in the aerogarden to germinate couldn't do so very well and left it too long and when I tried to remove the seed it just snapped... I really need to sow that one again... dammit! More sowing, I guess I have a serious problem now Lol!

Plants are looking EXCEPTIONAL!!

Thanks Millman! Seems like wilds is my thing and they get me very excited!

Thanks Scott! Yup, I started a tad bit earlier and I'm getting the feel for what I need and want. At this time last year I had smaller plants and no flowers. A bit worse I used miracle grow through the whole grow... explains why I didn't have any flowers at that time.

All my plants are being grown organically, no chems yet I'll be using them only in a really bad case or emergency. So far I love it and I only give them compost tea once a week.

Now I'm giving the flowering ones some Buddha Bloom from roots organics and looks like they like it so far.

Now the plants that aren't fully grown will go back indoors for 3 months til the weather calms down and then it's game time again. Needless to say, I'm more prepared this year and taking less shortcuts Lol.

AND, you learn from past experiences!

Notice I didn't use the word mistakes, I didn't feel you made any last year. It's all about timing and experience, and I'm way impressed with the progress you've made this season. And the photography! Need I say more?

Thanks for the kind words Scott, learning is fun. I tried tons of different things and now I know what to do and what turns to take. I'm still a noob, but I'm just very enthusiastic. I just get down and do it without fear. Every time I fail I just take it as a lesson and learn from it.

Even the most experienced make bad turns or run thru obstacles. But that's what makes us strong right?

Everyday we learn something new, there's no end to learning all about everything. The most important thing is to have fun and enjoy gardening, I love this hobby and I'm here to stay. Not to mention the great community we make

plants are looking great!  the chiltepin x 7 pot plant is beautiful.  very exciting about the little pod...

Thanks Charles! This year I feel better than the last, I still have lots to learn from the pros tho ;).

***************************

A few more pics.

I have about 5 different types of tepin, and I saw this one on Google and looks like an ultra prolific tepin (let's hope so :D ).

PI 593491 (Tepin)

CAP 1491 - C. Eximium. Still small but very different than other Eximium I've seen.

Tepin X Lemon drop F2. First flowers, for those growing it. Easy to grow like any other baccatum ;).

Pod forming and new flower.

Another tepin x lemon drop F2.

Ok can someone tell me something? Does this look like an Eximium flower to you? Doesn't seem to match any pics online. It's a CGN 19198.

Hope y'all have an excellent week! :fireball:

Walt, I noticed the makings yesterday when you first posted the pic... Not sure what to think of it right now, wait till it opens up fully and take another pic n post it...

Pics all look great Walt. Wish I could help with the flower, but I've never grown those before.

Thanks Jeff! IDing ain't easy LOL, but thanks.

Portuge, I'm leaning towards growing conditions. Nigel showed me a couple of pics from a same plant and shots taken in different conditions. Here's another pic. I have a few more pics and I'll just have to organize and update ;).

-Walt

That is CGN19198. First pic tripped me up,looked like cardenasii. The teeth on the calyx should get very long and the berries will be significantly larger than other eximium. The color will vary a lot.

Good work!
