Picked some berries from the greenhouse plants.
The Tepin, @pshngo, and the volunteer c. chacoense
were trimmed back for OW.

A typical branch from the Tepin. This one has been
über productive in the greenhouse. This is the second
major harvest. The first came from the bottom branches,
the second from the canopy. You can see the bottom of
the plant to the right. Dwarf Chiltepín berries visible in
the background.

I left the canopy branches on the Dwarf Chiltepin
Hermosillo, like I did with the Tepin. Should be another
decent picking. Red Tepin, @Pr0digal_son , to the
left. Maybe a picking next week on that one.
Would sort of like to get the picking over so I
can turn off the heater.

in non- Glabriusculum news, the c. tovari is starting
to ripen berries. The outside plant not so much.
Hoping for a quick progression, now that it has started.
Interestingly enough, it has started to ripen at the top
rather than the bottom, like the Glabriusculums.

You ever pick some green @PaulG? My family would have a mix of red and green sitting at the table at all times ready to eat.
You know, GS, I never have. How do they taste
compared to the Red? The mix would make a
great bowl of 'Christmas candy' !

Were they used fresh or dried?

The larger c. flexuosum trimmed to go into the
greenhouse. All these branches have green
berries, so hoping for some ripe ones pretty
soon.

One green berry on the smaller flexuosum, so
trimmed back for OW. Both plants handling
the cold weather very well. Temps have been
hovering at 30 to 36F at night for awhile, but
has been dry.

Did you grow multiple plants with multiple results? I thought these seeds resulted in a hybrid? Hoping you had an accurate plant.

Hey, John. The Red Tepin in the smaller container
produced typical Tepin berries. Much like a Chiltepin,
but a tad rounder shape. Nice and bright red. Will be
picking this plant in the next day or two. I liked the
'Giant' Red Tepin berries from the larger container's
plant. Actually more like small pods than berries.

I willl post a pic of the plant and berries after picking.

Picking time. Will add pics of the berries.

Chiltepin Rojo, CPI, fourth year plant. Twiggy
and super productive.

The Red Tepin from @Pr0digal_son. Not a bad
plant for an 8” clay bulb pan. Something over 2’
tall. Was very slow to flower and set pods, really
only hitting its stride after going into the green-
house.

Also cleaned out the canopy on the Dwarf Chiltepín
Rojo ‘Hermosillo’. All three plants have been cut back
for hopeful overwintering survival.

Yeah, some look like perfect spheres and in the upper canopy they look elongated. Shit!!!

Some of the elongated look is perhaps distortion
from the wide angle lens. In this comparison pic,
there is an obvious difference between the Dwarf
Chiltepín Hermosillo and the Red Tepin berries, top.

Pretty decent picking from the fourth year Chiltepín Rojo from CPI.
