Well after some problems, I have worked it all out.
Trying some experiments with this unit, but I have managed to get the temperature sustained between 28 and 32 degrees, trying to regulate it at 30.

Loads of peppers here thanks to JungleRain, two varieties I can thank Neil for, and the plant I already have, the Mudbrick herb farm.

After seeing how the seeds puff up with moisture and humidity which is quite interesting for a newcomer, I have learned a bit.
Here is my list for the season, if any of these fail I will be trying the bag and paper method again, as I am very short in some seeds.

Butch Taylor Trinidad Scorpion
Douglah
Cili Goronong
Mustard Habanero
Golden Habanero
Fitali
Antillias Caribbean
Scotch Bonnet TFM
Bahamian Goat Pepper
Yellow Bhut Jolokia
Chocolate Bhut Jolokia
Pimenta de Neyde
White Jellybean Habanero

Already have a surviving Bhut Jolokia (Red) plant, so I'll be lighting that one up with some vindaloo, salads and what not very soon!!

Now that’s some strange looking aliens you got happening there Nova. Ahhh it’s only a Rocoto(Minus leaves) :D

Hey nice magnification thingy. Was wandering how to take closeups without spending a fortune on a Camera.

Looks like the little-un will be another sacrifice to the Chilli Gods. May them shine down on us!!!

Micca, we have a few of these mag things kicking around work as a promotional give away. They are meant for checking the wear on carbide tips.

I will chuck one in the post tomorrow for ya!

Small question about my above setup....

I used seed raising mix on top of a jiffy pellet.... (don't ask, noob mistake).
I have the temperature steady at 33 degrees and I cannot reduce the temperature, I'm struggling. In fact it was at 35 when I got home, vents are open.

Was using the soil a mistake, as more area covered and heat is retained easier when there is more to heat up.

I have put in 5 yellow Cayenne's into one pellet... after finding out how to use the things on youtube, I'm waiting for the temperature to become ambient now. I had germination in my last experiment at 3 days, so hopefully this one will see results, I don't want to fry them, but how can I reduce the temperature? ideas?

What have you got it sitting on?
perhaps you could leave the top cracked open a bit as well as the vents??????

Well the heat mat is fixed to 36 degrees. Which isn't unreasonable for heat conductivity. But even in a cool place with the vents open it seems to be too high, though I may not be waiting long enough.
Don't I require the vents to be closed, for the humidity?

Alright, well under that theory the lid is only there to increase temperature? So if I maintain the moisture and keep the temperature as close to 30 as I can, I should have few issues?

There is hope! :woohoo:

Hahaha i want to know about the jiffies too! Yeah fubar if you allow as much air in as needed to cool and keep the pellets moist you will be just dandy. :P
