off-topic You know what really grinds my gears?!?

I prefer to look at them as bait for the highway patrol. If they're going 100, my 80 seems relatively tame by comparison.
;)

I've had law enforcement personnel here in Florida straight up tell me they won't touch anyone going below 80 on the highway, since the ticket fines (assuming people pay the fines) from anyone going 15 or less above the speed limit on the highway only just barely covers their expenses. Sad, but true. For more blatent violations, then they go after them with gusto, especially in construction zones (fines double when construction workers are present). And in fact, there's a new law in FL that really flips things around, so that anyone going too slow on the highway, say 10 MPH+ under the prevailing traffic on the highway (especially the left lane) will be pulled over and ticketed for being a hazard to prevailing traffic (dunno the exact wording of the ticket).

It's "impending traffic" in CA - it's also the #1 signal for a drunk driver.

I know a few police officers - they're WAY more likely to use "impeding traffic" to grab what they suspect is a drunk driver than someone doing 80 but in control of their vehicle.

100 is a priority too of course since 15+ over iN CA is a big fine & over 100 is a felony.

I shit you guys not, one day I got pulled over for speeding on my bicycle. It was late at night and I was coasting down a hill back to my mom's house when all the sudden I see flashing red lights behind me. The cop told me he had never seen a bicycle go that fast in his life and thought I just committed a crime. He said he was going 30 and was having trouble catching up to me. LoL After acting like he should take me to jail he let me go on my way and I still laugh everytime I think about that encounter with the police.

Curious you mention that because when I was in college, I got pulled over by a cop for wearing headphones while riding my bike. I honestly had no idea that was illegal, especially since the parts of campus I used was very bike friendly, and car traffic was minimal, at best. It was a $60 ticket, but since it was my first offense, they had me take a 2 hour class on why it was bad, and I got to avoid the fine and points.

Yes, I have a brother who's been in Germany for 20+ years (Lubeck => Hamburg => Berlin to present) - I am familiar with your liberal highway speed laws, as well as your countrymen's contempt for our own.

Of course to get those autobahn speeds you also have to live in Germany with a bunch of Germans....so it's kind of a fair trade-off.

(just playing - I've had fun in Germany every time I've been there)

I hate the 'I'm going 58 in the left lane' people.  SLOW TRAFFIC MOVE RIGHT!  Chicago driving is not for the faint hearted.
That's life in south Carolina highway 17 use the passing lane for their casual going to the mall lane. Only car in the left lane fifty cars behind them 35 in 55 aaaaarrrrrggggghhhhhhhh!!!

THAT REALLY GRINDS MY GEARS

   Did they show you pictures of people that got hurt while wearing headphones?

Yup, and curiously, it stayed on my DMV record for several years, which I thought was the most hilarious thing of all!

THERE'S A NAME FOR THAT TICKET IT'S CALLED JUSTICE!! :)

I've had a Saab, two VW's, a Honda, and a Nissan personally ... so, I think that shows my appreciation for American cars ...

That said, the last 5 years of Cadillac (CTS for example) are pretty bad ass ...

The Tesla is definitely bad ass. 0-60mph in 3.2s, dual-engine AWD ... that area is just getting started, it'll have a Cambrian explosion soon, I think ...

Haven't they improved the better models of the Corvette line considerably, too? ... I think I've read good things, but it's not something that interests me anymore, really ...

I don't know ... I think the state of American vehicles is more a story of just how little car they are giving 99% ...

I got tagged on the first day of classes at UW Eau Claire. 47 in a 15 zone. The cop was unimpressed. I on the other hand really appreciated the written warning as proof of high-speed badassery to show off at class!

As a muscle car fan myself you & I are in full agreement. You should check out my Instagram (@luckydoghotsauce) - for a while I was a car show magnet. More corvettes, mustangs, GTOs & challengers than you could shake a stick at.
