How to make your own capsaicin cream?

Ha, some cool ideas already, thanks!   Yeah, I forgot to mention that it's not only used for neuropathy,  but also arthritis, proriasis, and a bunch of other conditions.   The powder + olive oil + beeswax idea sounds great.   I just realised I still have pharmaceutic grade "super cayenne" powder...

How to make your own capsaicin cream?

Hi folks, I've been away a bit and had to think about this forum again today.   I've been ill (no worries, I'm OK and recovering), and the irony has it that one of the only medicins to work against the pain is... capsaicin.   It is used more and more for pain relief in neuropathy, and I wondered...

    AJ's Red

I keep making this over and over again. The wine really nails it. Then again, I always put red wine in my Bolognese sauce too (after browning the meat, and then I let it cook dry again). I made another batch today, but because I ran out of home grown peppers, I cheated a little with some...

    Chili?

I wish you hadn't posted that. As a Belgian, I quite like my fries, almost as much as I like chili. But I never thought of COMBINING the two. There goes my BMI... I'm drooling now and I hate you! :P

    Chili as ornamental plants

Well, um, I tasted one too, and I can't say it was a pleasant experience... so I might just look at them for a while. :)

    Chili as ornamental plants

I know we mostly grow them for the pods, but some of these plants are truly wonderful to just look at. This is a 6 month old "Twilight" that I moved indoors a few weeks ago (pics taken yesterday) For some reason they refuse to stop producing fruits, so I'm still harvestng every few days...

    Frost: I'm confused

Apologies for not replying earlier.. I think that's right. The two nights that we had freezing temps were also very foggy. Most plants survived, and some didn't. (in hindsight) The ones on window sills survived. The ones close to the ground didn't (well, some of them). The ones in a small...

    Chili?

Well, I just tried this. With a few twists (obviously). It has only simmered for 3 hours now, but WOO-HOO! That sure tastes good. Different wine (Pinot Gris), a bit less chorizo, added some bacon, fresh tomatoes from Tuscany, a bit more salt, a few more (small) superhots and DANG, this...

    Frost: I'm confused

As we had a frost warning a few days ago, I moved all the plants I wanted to keep inside. I discarded some others, but kept a few plants outside to see how they would cope. (yes, very cruel :) ) The first night was only -1°C, the second one temps went down to -3°C. We are now 4 days later...

Don't you feel like a murderer when...

Let's all have a minute of silence to commemorate the plants that didn't make my overwintering selection and ended up in the garbage can. ;) I feel dirty.

I keep on harvesting. But most of the peppers are still outside ... no frost in the next two weeks, so the yellow habs might actually make it! Ctd.

I'm even patient with young fools ;) Vitis (vinifera) is just the Latin name for grape plants. The variety I planted is called Boskoop Glory (sounds like a South African name BTW). You can buy them online in the UK here. But I guess good garden centers must stock them as well. From that site:

Have you tried that yet? I'm not sure how far "oop North" you live - judging by your location - but I'm sure that this variety would work there without any problems. I didn't believe they would grow where I live either, but was very pleasantly surprised. Young plants might need some...

Bugger. I didn't get the chance to get the rest of the grapes last week (doing major redecoration in the house) so my wife went to harvest them last Friday. She said she could not see any grapes. Before calling the optrician, I went to look for them myself and ... no more grapes. :shocked...

    It's getting f**king cold!!!!

Over here we are down to 4°C at night. Still hovering around 20°C during daytime. Clear skies account for the difference.

Thanks! In the mean time, we had the first frost in our (tiny) country. In September! Normally it happens end of October/beginning of November. Not where I live fortunately (the frost was in the Ardens), but I really hope it stays away for a another few weeks. Temperature...

Thanks all. Yes, this will be my second year of making red wine. I just bottled the batch from last year, and it's... wine. Not bad at all, but not a "great" wine. Still, it's pretty awesome to drink your own wine with your food. The grapes are Boskoop Glory, a variety with not...

    harvesting Some harvesting was done

This is about one twentieth of the grapes I have to collect. And nature doesn't wait, so it will have to be done in the next few days. We already did most of the tomatoes earlier this year, and peppers are only now starting to ripe. Come on guys, grow! (Does it help when you talk to...
