    vendor Pepper Lover

Sorry Pepper Lover, but your "Jalapeno Cracked" are terrible. I had 4 plants this year and only one turned out to be a Jalapeno. And it isn't hot or special at all.  This is for your information, as well as everybody else's.

    Pepper Joe's "Red Savinas"

This guy is hitting .000. Not a baseball fan but there it is. The latest "Red Savina".       Guesses on what the cross/crosses are?

    Leaf Diagnosis

I'm guessing it's chlorosis from water logged roots. Explanation: I mulch to prevent the myriad of disease that affect my tomatoes peppers and basil. This is the first year mulching peppers, and even with the long periods of dry weather, the soil remains wet. I'm aware peppers don't like this...

    Pepper ID

Bought these as Red Savina seeds last year from Pepper Joes. Not Red Savinas and labeled them the mystery pepper. This is this years plant:

    Root Bound Plants

What is the best way to transplant them? I used to separate the roots but now I've resorted to just leaving them alone. I know there is a thread on this but I'm still not sure. Will bound root balls expand if left alone?

    Crab Shell Ferts

I use the Neptunes Harvest Crabshell for calcium. SImple question:   How long does it take to dissolve the calcium and become usable to the plants? Is it a waste to apply this to potting start that will only be in the pot for another 6 weeks?

    What's this?

I feel like I should know what this is. But can't think of it. Is it bad? How do I fix it?             Seems to be crinkling the leaves.

    Damping Off

I lost a plant today to it. I use organic potting soil. Any chance it could come from this? I would guess it would more likely come from the tomato tone fertilizer.

    Jalapeno Cracked

...from pepperlover. I don't think I've ever seen cotyledons this big. Weird. They're the right three and bottom two. Haven't seen much about these here figured some would like to see the young plants. How is the fruit?

    Preventing Mold

I'm using tomato tone in my pot mixture as a fertilizer. I usually also use Neptunes Harvest fish and seaweed. I stopped using that to prevent white mold from growing on the top of the soil. Even with using tomato tone after two days there is mold growing on the soil. Is there anyway to prevent...

    Germ Temps

Is 90-95 too hot for annums and baccatums to sprout? A few Chinenses are doing well I find it odd that the faster growing ones are taking longer.

    organic Espoma Organic Potting Mix

http://www.espoma.com/p_consumer/potting_mix_overview.html#.VPFuZ9E5CCg   Put a search in and didn't find any topics on it. Many on Miracle Gro though. I assume this is much better?   This is my second season using this as a seed starter. My local nursery carries only this and not the seed...

    Kung Pao

I need a drying pepper with a lot of heat. I usually grow yatsufusa (labeled from the nursery as Thai Dragon). They dry very easily and have a lot of heat. Those that have experience what is the difference between the two other than size?

    Question on Beefsteak Type Varieties

Half of my tomatoes are usually of the beefsteak type. For example, hybrids like Beef Master and Big Beef and heirlooms like Cherokee Purple, Watermelon Beefsteak and Brandywine.   It seems pretty consistent across all of them that they are prone to cat facing and uneven ripening(less so with...

    Unknown Tomato Leaf Issue

I'm not a stranger to tomato diseases. I have to control them every year. But this one is new. The leaves go limp and then turn yellow. The branch will eventually completely dry out. Maybe it's fertilizer burn? I don't fertilize heavily, but am trying a new one.

    Guessing Cercospora Leaf Spot

It's the most aggressive plant disease I've ever had in my garden. And I've never had pepper diseases. Both my Red Savinas have lost 70% of their leaves and it is on all my pepper plants. It started from my jalapeno that came from a nursery, but has almost completely cured itself. I've been...

    soil Soil Too Light

Last year I tried a new organic potting/starter mix. It is mostly peat moss, and also has vermiculite, perlite and mychorizae. the mix was so light that it dried out very quickly because of the heat, even under the dome. I ended up killing all my seedlings last year.    Normally I would go...
